Pfsense/opnsense box with AX88U Merlin firmware

I would not worry about power draw and get your Pfsense working. Then decide if you like it. I would plug it into your network and get it working on the side then replace your ASUS router. It is going to be more full featured but require more set up.

    Switching from Asus AIMesh

If you want to put in the best info structure then go to a small business set up. Don't get trapped in the consumer model to where you have to replace it all every few years.

    Band steering in Asus Merlin

I think you will find those old clients are going away as technology improves. It is just like the old wireless who wants to use it, not me. I have already gotten rid of any old wireless clients as it has been years. I personally think it is not an issue nowadays as it is more of a cover for...

    Large house Mesh system

Build a small business network. It will build the foundation you want. It can be custom tailored to any set up and size. You can install Pfsense on an old PC for free and buy a few Cisco 150ax wireless APs for $102 each. This builds a good cheap foundation much better than any consumer...

    Internal antenna router

How about a small business set up with a ceiling mounted AP? It looks much better.

    Unifi 6 Wireless performance issues

160MHz is kind of a silly thing and is not going to be used in a business environment. And in locations with lots of clients you will limit bandwidth to avoid issues. Some business APs can support more clients than consumer ones so you need to look at the specs. There are connected clients...

Which mesh device to purchase for 4500sq ft house?

Maybe no walls or rice paper walls. I give up. There is no way you can cover my house, 3288 square feet in any 1 wireless router or AP. Even with 2.4 Ghz there will be so many dead spots that are not usable. Yes, there is coverage for part of my house. But it takes at least 3 5Ghz wireless...

Using pfSense with a L3 core switch

So, I came across these settings. I am trying them. Except I don't run pfblocker. I have an ACL to allow only QUAD9 DNS out. Any comment? I am not sure what enable Python would do for me if I don't run pfblocker. This should help System / General Setup DNS Servers: Provide resolvers of...

    Unifi 6 Wireless performance issues

I can't believe you actually thought marketing is correct. Nobody believes in marketing.

Does it make sense to change my modem?

I recommend you ask for an outside IP address on your Pfsense router and run the modem with pass through. That is what I do. I do own my own modem. I believe you can have higher bandwidth on DOCSYS3.1 as it has more channels. There is less chance of congestion with more channels. You do not...

Guest Network Pro or switch vlan

I prefer the switch. Unless you are using a layer 3 switch then you will need your router for layer 3 work. All my VLANs are assigned networks. I use a layer 3 switch so I need no router for layer 3 work.

How to enable IPv4 over LAN

Have you tried to disable IPv6? Maybe it will link to IPv4.

    Advice Needed

No. The last Cisco 150ax AP I bought from a Cisco online partner was $102. And Pfsense is free.

    Advice Needed

Have you looked at Cisco small business and Pfsense? I would choose it over Mikrotik any day. I prefer to use IPv4. Cisco small business will be easier to setup than Mikrotik. There are GUIs in the Cisco small business network products to make it easier to set up and maintain.

LONGEST COVERAGE ASUS AX router working as AP

You may want to look at a small business model where you can add as many wired APs as you want to cover completely.
