Smart Connect rule steering values. Please explain.

Yeah, kind of my issue now. Thanks for the article but unfortunately was the first thing I read. I think my plan is to create a VLAN for IOT using 2.4GHz and connect everything else to 5 GHz and call it a day.

Smart Connect rule steering values. Please explain.

Can you also demystify why one frequency is set to “less than” and the other is set to “greater than” in the steering filter part of the rule? That makes no sense to me.

Smart Connect rule steering values. Please explain.

Yes. I understand it’s the same SSID value across two separate networks. It’s a wireless camera. My next move is an IOT VLAN and set to 2.4. I just wanted to see the Smart Connect and wanted to set everything up on one network to start.

Smart Connect rule steering values. Please explain.

OK, I will admit what I'm about to ask may seem dumb to some. That's fine. I called Asus Support and asked them, and the experience may have been the worst I've ever experienced. It was like the guy who barely spoke English was answering questions I didn't ask and ignoring the ones I did ask...

    Release schedule for firmware?

    lol. Ok then.

    Release schedule for firmware?

The last release of firmware for the AX88U Pro was mid January, almost 6 months ago. Does Asus have a standard release schedule for firmware, or do they just drop new versions randomly when they get to it? I assume CVEs and security fixes play a role in release, but is there a standard cadence?

1.5Gb fiber connection with 3 mesh nodes. Clients getting ~500Mbps. Setting or nature of AIMesh?

Airtime Fairness is default disabled and still set that way. If Roaming Assistant is disabled then wouldn’t that disable or cripple Smart Connect?

1.5Gb fiber connection with 3 mesh nodes. Clients getting ~500Mbps. Setting or nature of AIMesh?

My backhaul is all wired over cat 6 and 2.5Gb ports and an unmanaged switch.

1.5Gb fiber connection with 3 mesh nodes. Clients getting ~500Mbps. Setting or nature of AIMesh?

Yes, I test from the router and get the full provisioned speed. 1.6Gbps up/down.

Which mesh device to purchase for 4500sq ft house?

Oh and no QoS or VPN or VLANs or anything beyond basic dual band WiFi.

Which mesh device to purchase for 4500sq ft house?

The latest Asus official firmware. All cabling is Cat 6. One D-Link unmanaged 2.5Gb 5 port switch that connects the router 2.5Gb LAN port and the 2.5Gb WAN port of each of the 2 mesh nodes. Settings are almost all default except using smart connect and I disabled “OFDMA/802.11ax MU-MIMO” based...

Which mesh device to purchase for 4500sq ft house?

I recently purchased (3) RT-AX88U Pro units and have them setup with one as the edge router connected to the fiber ONT, and the other two in a wired mesh backhaul using the 2.5Gb WAN ports. Coverage is fine in my new 3 story, 5600 sq ft house. No issues connecting IOT devices like the alarm...

    Announcement: 3006 progress report - it's a go

They may have very well been the case several years ago, but I think with auto updating, it’s probably less the case now. Just keeping security vulnerabilities patched is a big driver for vendors like Asus.

AIMesh node vs Access Point mode / AIMesh Router in AP mode

That's a good suggestion and may give that a try when I get a few hours.

AIMesh node vs Access Point mode / AIMesh Router in AP mode

Maybe I’m just overthinking this. The mesh nodes are wired. Ethernet Backhaul Mode is already enabled as posted. Not trying to do wireless between the mesh nodes and router. For some reason there is a setting for AIMesh Node and also a setting for AIMesh Router in AP Mode. If the only...
