Can anyone help with a couple of problems with an XT8 Mesh system? Issues with connectivity and client list and question about SSH command line.

It could be my something in my wifi environment that the XT8 just didn't get along with but so far the AXE5300 has been pretty much flawless between yesterday and today. It could also be that the Deco's OS/firmware is much simpler than the XT8's. A lot fewer features and user-configurable...

Can anyone help with a couple of problems with an XT8 Mesh system? Issues with connectivity and client list and question about SSH command line.

Ok, unfortunately the XT8 just didn't work for me. I installed the Deco AXE5300 and the difference so far is night and day. All devices will connect to whatever mesh unit I bind them to, even the Ring alarm and AirTV2. I placed the Deco units in the exact same places that the XT8 nodes were...

Can anyone help with a couple of problems with an XT8 Mesh system? Issues with connectivity and client list and question about SSH command line.

But it does have easy access to some things that are harder to find in the web UI. Anyway, this morning the problems are still here. I wake up to find a couple of my cameras lagging like crazy so I rebooted the system and the cameras. As expected, the device lists are all now missing...

Can anyone help with a couple of problems with an XT8 Mesh system? Issues with connectivity and client list and question about SSH command line.

The Ring alarm showing that it's connected to the wrong router is a minor annoyance. As for the RSSI, in the Asus Router app on my phone I just select the device and when it opens up the device info, toward the bottom it shows the RSSI. In the web interface it doesn't show it anywhere that I...

Can anyone help with a couple of problems with an XT8 Mesh system? Issues with connectivity and client list and question about SSH command line.

Hardware is V2. Firmware is the most current one on all three units. 3.0.0.4.388_24621 This morning I woke up to find another annoyance. The Ring alarm I have connected by ethernet to the Living Room base station is now showing that it is connected, via wired connection, to the Main router...

Can anyone help with a couple of problems with an XT8 Mesh system? Issues with connectivity and client list and question about SSH command line.

I recently replaced a TP Link Deco X5000 with an Asus XT8 because the Deco didn't have a lot of management options, no traffic monitoring, and had a few annoying quirks. I'm starting to think I went from the frying pan into the fryer with this move. The Asus has more management options and a...

Mixing AiMesh models. Is the system limited by the unit with the least functionality?

Just for one example, the XT8 has a dedicated 5G backhaul. The XD5 does not. If I thrown an XD5 as a node into a system of XT8s will the entire system lose the dedicated 5G backhaul or will that only affect the XD5s?

Mixing AiMesh models. Is the system limited by the unit with the least functionality?

So basically if I use an XT12 as the main and the XT8s as the nodes or an XT8 as the main and XD5s as nodes, I should be OK and still have the settings and features for the higher end units?

Mixing AiMesh models. Is the system limited by the unit with the least functionality?

I have an XT8 system with one main XT8 and two others as nodes. I'm considering either adding two XD5 units as nodes or one XT12 as the main router and using my current main XT8 as just another node. What I'm wondering is if by adding a lower-end unit like an XD5 the entire system will drop to...

    ASUS AX6000 Client Status problem

Yeah, I have most of that disabled but one of the reasons I bought this system is specifically for the traffic analyzer and the ability to see data usage by device. The Deco X5000 I tried didn't have this, much to my surprise. Still having random issues though. Today my Ring alarm base...

    ASUS AX6000 Client Status problem

After a lot of reading and my own experiences with an Asus XT8 system I've had for about a week, I think a lot of these Asus systems need to be rebooted pretty frequently to keep everything working normally. I've had to restart my system several times to fix various issues like traffic...

    Asus vs. Orbi

My experience with Netgear stuff was the Nighthawk MK63 mesh system. After that I have zero interest or desire to have anything to do with Netgear.

What Mesh system do have the most power?

IMO most mesh systems are extremely and overly optimistic about the square footage they can cover. My XT8 system with 3 units claims it can cover over 8000 sq ft. Maybe in a completely empty rectangular warehouse with no walls or obstructions between the nodes and each node placed as far...

    Asus XT8 HW1 & HW2 Asus-wrt Merlin GNUton

Right, I was just wondering if there's something about the different hardware or the way the firmware is written that makes it technically not possible to write a 3rd party FW for this hardware. Are certain things encrypted, proprietary, or locked out in the V2 hardware that are accessible...

    Asus XT8 HW1 & HW2 Asus-wrt Merlin GNUton

I think I found the forks you're talking about. https://gnuton.github.io/asuswrt-merlin.ng/ The XT8 is mentioned but it doesn't say anything about V2 and everything I've been able to find indicates that this is only for V1. Just for my own curiosity, is there a technical reason why a FW for...
