    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6_102_34312 - 2024/05/09

Took a quick look at this 3006 firmware on a RT-AX86U Pro and ended up having issues with the Guest Network Pro settings. For what ever reason I couldn't get Guest Network Pro WiFi clients isolated from the main LAN clients in my quick testing. Even tried a Custom Guest Network Pro entry with...

    ASUS Firmware update privacy policy?

The new privacy screen/information and forcing the user to choose was mentioned and posted to the RT-AX86U Pro 3006 firmware discussion over a week ago: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asus-rt-ax86u-pro-firmware-version-3-0-0-6_102_34312-2024-05-09.90015/page-2#post-906998 One can just select...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.13 / 386.13_2 is now available for AC models

@diabolyk, generally one can flash the newer Asus-Merlin over the top of the existing version. There are some "recommendations" though for doing so on the Asus-Merlin Wiki Installation page: https://github.com/RMerl/asuswrt-merlin.ng/wiki/Installation It is generally suggested to remove...

asus rt-ac68u disconnecting from internet issues firmware 386.3_2

Why are you changing that setting to enable HDD hibernation? Are you going to, or do you already have, have a USB storage device attached to the router?

asus rt-ac68u disconnecting from internet issues firmware 386.3_2

The general consensus around here by more than a few is to run stock Asus firmware on the AiMesh nodes since one generally doesn't gain much benefit from the Asus-Merlin firmware features due to many features being disabled when the router is configured as a AiMesh node. AiMesh is what it is...

Transferring the cfg file to another model

@pavel.tragan, it is generally recommended one does not import a router.cfg file from one Asus router to another (different) Asus router. If you use the forum search feature you'll find a few discussions where people inquired about doing so. For example this recent discussion...

asus rt-ac68u disconnecting from internet issues firmware 386.3_2

@Metroguy, you have resurected a discussion from 2021. What firmware are you running on your RT-AC68U? The latest stable Asus-Merlin firmware for the RT-AC68U is 386.13. https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net/

    High memory usage in GT-AXE16000

Yes its normal when you have a USB drive attached to the router and are using that storage as a file server/media streamer. Plenty of past discussions and posts about people asking similar questions when the memory usage is at 95% or higher. For example this recent discussion...

    Smart Band Steering

Not really. Its just common sense to disable Smart Connect as a troubleshooting step when one is having issues of 5Ghz clients connecting to 2.4Ghz when using Smart Connect. For my usage, I turn it off and assign different SSID's and passwords to each Wifi band due to past issues similar to...

Hostname DHCP reservation list is too long.

If I remember right you do not need a comma after the hostname/device in your examples.

Hostname DHCP reservation list is too long.

I may have missed the explanation, but what is the reasoning for appending the hostname with ".home.lan"? Are you not using the LAN > Domain Name field?
  12. B

    Smart Band Steering

Most likely cause is Smart Connect. Disable it and set independent SSID's and passwords for the two WiFi bands. Make sure to connect the WiFi clients to the proper bands, forgetting any previous saved connections to the router. Problem of the WiFi client(s) connecting to the wrong WiFi band...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.7 is now available

@ToonTonic, which file are you trying to install? The normal GT-AXE16000_3004_388.7_0_nand_squashfs.pkgtb file or the ROG version (GT-AXE16000_3004_388.7_0_rog_nand_squashfs.pkgtb)? If the ROG version, try flashing the normal version. If both are exhibiting the same update problem it would help...

YazFi YazFi and Port forwarding to get to server?

For those reading who are new to YazFi, see the YazFi section on Custom Firewall Rules. https://github.com/jackyaz/YazFi?tab=readme-ov-file#custom-firewall-rules There are a number of previous posts that discuss using YazFi custom firewall rules to allow access between main LAN clients and...

Solved settings for Asus Smartconnect for clients which have trouble staying on 5Ghz

@Metroguy, to provide a bit more context for others. It may help if you post your router model and what firmware version the router is running along with what WiFi client devices are being used or benefited from the setting changes you made. You'll note that quite a few users here put the router...

Clients Unable to Connect to Guest Network After Firmware Upgrade

Edit: Have you tried re-installing YazFi? The log snippet you posted seems to imply it is the 5Ghz #3 Guest Network that is having the trouble. Check the YazFi settings for the Guest Network #3. Maybe try moving it to Guest Network #2 instead if #2 is unused.

    RT-AX86U - WAN failover

The following add-on script, if you haven't seen it, may or may not be relevant to what you seek. You may want to inquire within the add-on script's discussion how the add-on script handles the WAN MAC address. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/dual-wan-failover-v2-release.83674/

    MAC Filter Options

@TheLyppardMan, As already indicated by others above, Asus router firmware (including Asus-Merlin firmware) already include a MAC Filtering option where one can set it to accept all MAC addresses on the list which is then supposed to reject any MAC address not on the list. But as already...

AI Mesh node setup without cable?

If you haven't done so already see the Asus directions for setting up AiMesh. Their directions don't require a cable connection to the AiMesh node. https://www.asus.com/us/support/faq/1035087/

    Release ASUS RT-AX86U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6_102_34312 - 2024/05/09

Been like that for some time, on the Merlin firmware. Haven't used the stock Asus firmware in some time but assumed it was the same there too. Commented about the 2.5GB port showing as a LAN port to someone else last month...
