ANNOUNCEMENT: Asuswrt-Merlin support underway for 3 Wifi 7 routers

So the GT-BE98 builds aren't done by you? I was under the assumption that the BE98 and Pro were essentially the same just that the pro had 2 6GHz bands enabled and the non pro had 2 5GHz bands enabled.

    BE98 Pro Questions

Is that just as simple as unchecking AiProtection? Is it even really worth having enabled anyway?

GT-BE98 Pro Firmware 34491 Issues w/ Arlo Doorbell

Some devices can't work with GCMP-256 encryption that WiFi 7 uses on the Asus as of the latest firmwares, the easiest thing to do is create an IoT network with lesser encryption that the Arlo and other devices can connect to.

    Announcement: 3006 progress report - it's a go

When you say guest network pro can have its own DHCP server, are you saying this option will spawn a separate DHCP server if turned off, otherwise just use the system DHCP otherwise? This is taken from my own GT-BE98

    BE96U firmware 3.0.0.6.102_34488

Despite what the Apple site says the iPhone 15 Pro at least supports 160MHz channels on 5GHz.

    Announcement: 3006 progress report - it's a go

Merlin has a 98 Pro and he said in the OP it’s looking likely he will support WiFi 7 models and they all use the same Broadcom chip and SDK as far as I’m aware, so I’d say it’s probably a good bet.

    GT-BE98 WIFI 7

Any particular reason why this wouldn’t be as fast as my old AX86U? Used to get around 1100Mb/s on 5GHz 160MHz channels on my iPhone 15 Pro, doesn’t reach that on either the 5GHz or 6GHz channel on the BE98. Is it just early firmware issues or is there a reason it would be slower? The built...

    Announcement: 3006 progress report - it's a go

I’m sure they have their reasons, but I do wish Asus would adopt some of your code, e.g. the wireless log in your firmware so far ahead of what’s in the stock firmware I wonder why they continue to use it.

    Announcement: 3006 progress report - it's a go

Based on what you've said and what hardware I know you've got, I'm guessing the GT-BE98 should hopefully be supported, but obviously that could change.

    ASUS GT-BE98 Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_34372 - 2024/04/23

I didn't think Windows supported MLO until a future built of Windows 11 24H2. Wouldn't surprise me if the S24 didn't support it yet either.

Should I upgrade from WiFi 6, to at least 6e, at this point?

My 15 Pro connects to my 86U at 160MHz on the 5GHz channel so it’s not limited to just 6GHz.

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

Because surely if it's certified you can be sure you're getting the whole spec? If and when I do purchase a WiFi 7 router I'd want to make sure I get all the features such as MLO etc. A non certified device could potentially not support the full spec and claim they didn't have to as nothing was...

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

What's the chances of these getting WiFi-7 certified now that it's been finalised?

Wi-Fi 7 Multi Link Operation (MLO) discussion

Not sure how anyone could see it as anything else, it's combining multiple frequencies to increase bandwidth.

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

The UK has access to the lower 6GHz frequencies and they are consulting on the upper 6GHz frequencies by the looks of it. https://www.ofcom.org.uk/consultations-and-statements/category-1/hybrid-sharing-to-access-the-upper-6-ghz-band
