Release ASUS RT-AX88U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_33352 (2025/03/19)

Took one of them out and now just 2 of the same AX88U Pro. I learned the lesson that less is more sometimes. One unit is on the 2nd floor, and one is in the finished basement. Devices on the main floor use whichever they’re getting a better signal from, as they’re each on a different end of the...

Release ASUS RT-AX88U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_33352 (2025/03/19)

This new version seems likes a winner. Performance is good and when set to 20/40/80/160, the 5 GHz band will step down to 80 and up to 160 dynamically as needed. It finally works as designed.

Release ASUS RT-AX88U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_33352 (2025/03/19)

Is there a delay between when new firmware is available for download on the Asus site and when the router will detect it? When I check for new firmware, the router tells me my “AI Mesh system is up to date” but I’m using older version 102_3340.

    AX88U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_33338 2024/11/06

This firmware does not show up when I do a detect for updates on the router app or in the web console. Yet I do see it on the Asus support site. What’s the deal?

    UPS to protect ONT, router?

Is that a good size for that load?

    UPS to protect ONT, router?

Any recommendations on a good UPS that isn’t overkill for use with an ONT, router, hub in my basement to protect against power outages due to storms, etc?

When you FA, you FO. I did.

I guess if you’re not from the U.S. or an English speaker it may not be familiar. Means f**k around, find out.

When you FA, you FO. I did.

I’ve learned my lesson. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

When you FA, you FO. I did.

I know this is anecdotal but started off with 3 AX88U routers in a mesh (router with 2 nodes). They were tweaked based on suggestions found on this forum with the understanding that every environment is different. I have a 1.5Gb fiber connection but never seemed to ever get full connection...

Fewer mesh nodes = better client performance?

Still powers up and can be reset, but started doing weird things. WiFi throughput was coming to a crawl for devices associated with that node and latency was spiking to more than 1000ms and going up and down. I swapped in the first floor node for the bad node on the 2nd floor using the same...

Fewer mesh nodes = better client performance?

Had 3 AX88U Pro units in a mesh (main router and 2 nodes) in my 3 story house of approximately 5600 sq ft. One unit on each level. The first floor unit died and I removed it from the mesh and to my surprise it seems like some devices are using weaker signal but the overall performance is...

    Release RT-AX88U Pro 3.0.0.6.102_33309

Well it does say the vulnerability was the only thing fixed, so wouldn’t you expect other bugs to still be there? I’m just shocked that it’s been 8 months since the last version and this is all they’ve fixed. But so far for me, with 3 units in a mesh, no obvious issues. Same as the previous...

Smart Connect rule steering values. Please explain.

Yeah, kind of my issue now. Thanks for the article but unfortunately was the first thing I read. I think my plan is to create a VLAN for IOT using 2.4GHz and connect everything else to 5 GHz and call it a day.

Smart Connect rule steering values. Please explain.

Can you also demystify why one frequency is set to “less than” and the other is set to “greater than” in the steering filter part of the rule? That makes no sense to me.

Smart Connect rule steering values. Please explain.

Yes. I understand it’s the same SSID value across two separate networks. It’s a wireless camera. My next move is an IOT VLAN and set to 2.4. I just wanted to see the Smart Connect and wanted to set everything up on one network to start.
