question has to be asked , do we really want to be yet another beta tester for yet another gui update just to have the chance to win another nas which you would almost have to have in the first place lol

for me my NAS is part of my testing hardware and the less inaccuracies i have the better , might just wait this one out till its released and let some other guys trial the beta for me :)

btrfs - sounds good but is used only with 4+ drives.

I don't have a spare NAS so I can't do beta tests.

Well - the best advice I can offer for any NAS users -

Carefully review the release notes and see if it scratches an itch - the value is not in the firmware or the device, but the data contained within - some folks want the latest/greatest, but for most, wait for the first couple of point releases to sort out the major bugs in the new features added..

Make sure to have a sound/recent backup of the NAS before hitting the upgrade...

Good to see its got to Release Candidate stage - it's been a while in the making this one :)

Normally I don't care and jump to installing BETA firmware on my synology NAS as I just use it for streaming and downloading. Since the IP camera's have gone in though I'm a bit hesitant as it's considered to be a reliable config currently. New releases of SS are always buggy to start with.

Not long to go now then I guess. Would have liked to have seen BTRFS being used as standard so we can do stuff like enter power saving on individual drives but alas - 4+ drives only is a bit poor for BTRFS.
