AX88U Pro (3004.388.5) suddenly rebooted mid-day. Last manual reboot was a few days ago.

I have an Asus AX88U Pro as the sole router for our home network. No AiMesh nodes. There are about 50 devices connected, ranging from computers and phones to IoT / smart home devices. This is a recent hardware upgrade from an AX88U. I installed Merlin after initial setup, fresh out of the...

AX88U cannot register AX88U Pro as AiMesh node. Both devices have 3004_388.5.

I was honestly considering doing this anyway, but I had a question about backing up and restoring configurations. Both the AX88U and AX88U Pro are on the same version of the firmware (3004_388.5). I'm using the IPSec VPN right now with a shared secret, no certificates, and the Dynamic DNS as...

AX88U cannot register AX88U Pro as AiMesh node. Both devices have 3004_388.5.

I have an ASUS AX88U acting as the main router and an AC68U (aka 1900P) as an AiMesh node. I can't do wired backhaul in this place, and the wireless performance drags when the devices connect to the older AP. Since the AC68U is pretty old, it can only use 5 GHz as the backhaul and offer 2.4...

Wireless MAC filter: not actually rejecting devices, and saving changes takes down Wi-Fi interface. Build 388.2_2.

I have an Asus AX88U with build 382.2_2. When I set a MAC address of a computer and use the "Reject" option, then save changes, the entire Wi-Fi interface is torn down and restarted. This impacts ALL devices on the network. Adding devices to a MAC filter list—especially when this is a "black...

The main website redesign (Nov 20, 2022) resembles a parked domain / spam website.

The main website was updated recently, and now it looks like one of those squatted / parked domains designed to attract keyword searches. I had to use the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine to find that it was updated on Sunday, November 20. Before...

UPnP issues: port forwarding page not updating properly, and the UPnP config file retains old "deny" entries after removing static port mappings

I seem to be having some issue with UPnP for a couple of builds now. I have an AX88U running firmware 388.1, production build. The page "Advanced_VirtualServer_Content.asp" shows several applications with static port definitions that I set. One application on my Mac has an option to...

Wi-Fi Ping Spikes: Causes and Fixes

This was a great article. One of the suggested features to check — automatic channel selection — was enabled on my AX88U. I was having intermittent severe latency on the 2.4GHz channel: we're talking several seconds where packets would not go through, followed by a flood of extremely late...

Router: web admin console logs out for inactivity if you only interact with items on the same page, and don't navigate to a new page.

Has anyone else seen this behavior on their routers with AsusWRT Merlin? What about the stock firmware?

Router: web admin console logs out for inactivity if you only interact with items on the same page, and don't navigate to a new page.

I've been logged out for inactivity from the router console while performing some of the following non-exhaustive list of actions on the main index page: Reviewing devices in the Client Status sidebar (after clicking the "Clients" button); Clicking the 'Refresh' button in the Client Status...

Ping times escalate every 10 seconds, then fall.

The problem comes back in the daytime. I am not seeing the issue on Ethernet, only Wi-Fi... and only from an iOS device. Not from a computer on Wi-Fi. If I set the ping interval shorter than 1.0 seconds on the iPhone (i.e. every 0.25 seconds), then the ping times are wildly erratic. If I set...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.8 is now available for specific models

I got similar results pinging facebook.com, so it isn't just an "Apfelsach." Pinging the IP makes no difference. The ping utility performs the DNS lookup once at the beginning and uses the IP address going forward (until you ctrl-C to stop it). Anyway the problem went away by the evening...

Ping times escalate every 10 seconds, then fall.

Unsure, didn't test that far. Problem went away this evening. I found that QoS was still enabled (it was on briefly for monitoring) so I just turned it off. Also, I didn't create a duplicate post / thread; I merely replied to another post for the 368.8 release in the Merlin subforum. That...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.8 is now available for specific models

My AX88U (386.8) has some new strange issue where ping times will slowly escalate from ~30ms all the way up to ~300ms, then suddenly fall back to normal. This repeats every 10 seconds like clockwork. I'm also seeing issues with streaming video services on the TV that will randomly drop to the...

Smart Connect or AiMesh issue? AX88U has many kernel "signal 11" errors right after roamast: "deauth old sta" or "disconnect weak signal."

EDIT: I just noticed that 386.8_0 was released last Saturday. I'll try updating... ——— I am seeing errors in the logs that could indicate something going on with Smart Connect or AiMesh. Symptoms: The Wi-Fi on my AX88U has been very flaky the last couple of days. Some smart devices have...

Edited MAC address of static DHCP entry. Router won't give new device the old static IP address.

Sorry. I was using "NIC" as a shorthand for "network interface." One interface is Wi-Fi. The other is Ethernet. Same address space, different VLAN (br0 vs wl0). I think that was the problem; the lease hadn't expired. I'll shorten the lease time to 1 hour.

Edited MAC address of static DHCP entry. Router won't give new device the old static IP address.

edit: the second MAC finally showed up in the Clients table some time this evening while I was out. I was able to set the static DHCP reservation. After cycling the Ethernet connection on the computer, it retrieved the desired IP address (192.168.11.99) instead of from the DHCP pool (.100 -...

Edited MAC address of static DHCP entry. Router won't give new device the old static IP address.

I rebooted the router and it did not fix the issue. What about the fact that the router only sees one "client" even though there are two MAC addresses ? The second MAC address isn't even showing up in the client list so I can't do anything with the MAC address. Several functions on the router...
