    Ubiquiti UniFi AP-AC Reviewed

LoneWolf: I would loan my WAP371 to Mr Higgins if he could loan me something in the interim to use as a WAP. My wife would be really ticked off if we had no WiFiz :-) Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

I recently purchased the Cisco unit you mentioned and it is a solid performer. In like the ability to build a mesh without a controller but I don't need it yet. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

New Asus RT-AC68U has slow LAN file transfer?

Transferring to the phone is going to be limited to the speed of the media you are writing to. Based on your results it would seem your media (integrated or SD card) is class 10. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

TP-LINK Archer C7 AC1750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router Reviewed

I'll have to try the newer firmware before I return it. I was running a December beta. Why aren't any of these making GA? Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

Is Wireless Roaming a Standard Feature?

I still have the amped; I think it's the r10000. I was looking to upgrade to 802.11ac but I'll just wait until I have an AC device or two now ;) The Archer c7 has lower signal levels and very poor throughput in the 2.4 GHz band. Added on edit: Another user in the C7 specific thread had a...

Is Wireless Roaming a Standard Feature?

Don't get a C7. 2.4 GHz performance is significantly worse than an amped wireless device it was supposed to replace. 5ghz is okay but not spectacular. Mine is going back. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

Cisco SG500-28P Gigabit Stackable Managed Switch Reviewed

Do you have vlan tagging set up one the PCs and the pfsense box? If not they won't work. Why VLANs on this small of an environment other than "I can"? Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

    Product-review: Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite

I picked one up a few weeks ago and am quite impressed. Performance is ridiculous for the money! Now if I could only find reasonably priced 802.11ac WAPs I would be extremely happy! Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

How do you avoid running out of IP addresses?

Rwmixedcat: You have no idea what my background is. Nobody is "scaremongering"... I'll say this again ... For SOHO/SMB that this site is aimed at the solutions you are discussing are generally overkill. These organizations usually have neither the budget, need nor expertise for "enterprise"...

How do you avoid running out of IP addresses?

Right product, right place. SOHO and SMB generally have neither the need nor the budget for "enterprise" hardware. As you scale up into either larger areas and/or larger number of users isnwhen you start getting into the potential need for more enterprise grade products. Just being honest...

Is Wireless Roaming a Standard Feature?

Definitely looking for something along the lines of the ubiquiti and/or Apple airports. I don't have the coin right now for the Cisco and/or Aruba devices. I wish the Ubiquiti UAP-AC was closer to the price of the Apple Airports. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk

Is Wireless Roaming a Standard Feature?

This may not be the best place to ask, but is the roaming a feature of the wireless standard, so any two (or more) WiFi devices can function in this fashion? For "ease of use", obviously same model is best but this is a generic question at this point.

    Ubiquiti UniFi AP-AC Reviewed

Stevech: You make a valid point to an extent. Isn't most traffic unbalanced, ie downstream is more bandwidth than upstream? Unless its file transfers/uploads an asymmetric stream shouldn't be the end of the world. If machine X us doing that type of work it should probably be on a wire IMO...

    Ubiquiti UniFi AP-AC Reviewed

Have you looked at the You Tube videos that Ubiquiti put up? I gave them credit for showing the tests and the results. Did the price change prior to "launch"? They were listed (before GA) at $300 now they seem to be going for $400.
