Are newer power line adapters worth trying?

Using WIFI analyzer on my cell phone I found that the other side of the room from the desk had a much stronger signal from the main router. I decided to try a wireless “bridge”. The main wireless router is a Spectrum SAXIVIR WIFI 6 with 4 streams on both the 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands I used a...

Are newer power line adapters worth trying?

I don’t if there is an actual need for more than 80 megabit. They have a fairly new MAC laptop that is used to work from home in that room. They have Spectrum 300 download/10 up. Spectrum overprovisions 20%. On a wired connection or with a good wireless connection speed tests show over...

Are newer power line adapters worth trying?

MY sister-in-law has one room in her house that only gets 80 megabit on 5 GHz WIFI AC and even less on 2.4 GHz. Several years ago we tried a pair of Trendnet TPL_421E2K/A AV2 1200 adapters. The were even slower than WIFI and less stable. Is it worth trying a pair of AV2 2000 adapter?. Any...

Get “enter network credentials” trying to access Synology NAS.

I found that the problem is the LAN Manager authentication level setting in Windows. On the Windows 10 PC that could access the DS423 the setting was undefined. On the Windows 10 PC that couldn’t access the 423 I had it set to “Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated” The...

Get “enter network credentials” trying to access Synology NAS.

I am setting up a new Synology NAS (DS423). It is running 7.2.6xxx release I have set up a shared folder that isn’t supposed to require a password. On one laptop running Windows 10 and a desktop running Win 8 it works without password. On a different laptop running Win 10 and another desktop...

    Gocoax WF-803M insertion loss?

Does anyone know the loss between the Moca in and TV out port on the WF-803M. If the TV out port isn’t amplified my guess is at least 3.5 db. I am trying to determine why I am getting low signal levels at one of the adapters.

MOCA 2.0 speeds drop after installing Arris S33 modem

Try an addition MOCA filter at the modem (between it and the rest of your coax). Note: If frequencies above 1HHz are being used by/for the modem this will create problems.

Access point with multiple SSIDs mapped to multiple VLANs

Note if Multi-SSID works the same as on my TP-Link WA-801 then each VLAN you use for a SSID will show up as tagged on the Ethernet port. For example SSID1 VLAN 7 SSID2 VLAN 20 SSID3 VLAN 300 VLAN 7, 20 and 300 will be tagged on the Ethernet port.

Access point with multiple SSIDs mapped to multiple VLANs

A port can be tagged in one or more VLANs, untagged in one VLAN or untagged in one and tagged in one or more VLANS.

    Why port 8443 default?

Reset my RT-AC66U_B1 and upgraded from 386.7_2 to 386.9 using Firefox. After upgrade I was unable to login using Firefox and IP address. I next tried Edge and login with IP address worked normally. After login found HTPPS port defaulted to 8443. Tried Firefox and IPaddress:8443 and it worked. I...

Solved robocopy to Router USB Drive Issues

Is the router on the same subnet as the PC? Do you really need password protection on the router share? What is the brand and model of the router?

    2.5G Switch with Link Aggregation?

I don’t believe the Zyxel MG-108 that you linked (or any other “dumb” switch) supports link aggregation. You need a smart/managed switch. The Zyxel XGS1250-12 supports link aggregation. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08TC3VJ61/?tag=snbforums-20 If you need more then 3 2.5gig/multigig ports you...

News NETGEAR Announces Two Small-Biz Wi-Fi 6 APs

If you don’t need VLAN support the WAX202 works well as a low cost wifi 6 access point. You can also load Openwrt for full VLAN support.

Does aimesh use a tagged VLAN for wired backhaul?

I have found that what appeared to be a smart switch problem was actually related to trying to use an AC1900P with an AC66U_B1. Aimesh only uses VLAN tags for the guest network After I setup Aimesh between two AC1900Ps using an Ethernet cable I was able to connect the node through smart...

Does aimesh use a tagged VLAN for wired backhaul?

The fact that someone found 501, 502 and 503 are used for guest suggests/implies they are using Ethernet backhaul through a smart/managed switch. Running the backhaul through a smart switch is the problem I am trying to solve. Running a cable across the floor, down the stairwell and across the...

Does aimesh use a tagged VLAN for wired backhaul?

While setting up aimesh I found that a smart switch blocks the wired connection between the node and the main router. Does this connection use a tagged VLAN? If it is using a tagged VLAN what is the VLAN ID/number? I did find that in another post that guest SSID apparently use IDs 501, 502...

Does Aimesh work between RT-AC1900P and RT-AC66U B1?

Running the ac1900p as the router and the ac66u b1 as the node I was unable to see the ac66 either wired or wirelessly. Running the ac66u as the router I was able to find the ac1900 but the connect failed either wired or wirelessly at around 75%. I next got the other ac1900p and updated the...
