    Just so you know, running Merlin on a mesh node offers no advantages over stock firmware. It fact many believe the stock firmware is better for Mesh nodes.

    If it still serves your needs, why replace it. It's not like it's going to suddenly stop working on December 24th. On the other hand if you need WiFi 6 support then it's time to upgrade and you can always use your Ac86u as a mesh node.

    Your isp router is not in bridge mode or you are plugged int to wrong port if you have a double nat. Make sure you are using the proper port on the isp modem/router.

    I have had mixed results over the years setting up AIMesh wirelessly. I have found the setting it up using ethernet has alsway worked for me. Then you can switch to wireless. In your case you might not be able to set up because you your port is shot.

    ASUS RT-AC68U routers are kind of old at this point. I would consider upgrading since it sounds like a hardware issue. I would guess you tried all the usual troubleshooting things (reboot, reset, etc.). Have you switched ports your computer is plugged into on the router. Try different cables...
