Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

These are errors caused by Smart Connect. Just turn it off as it does not bring much value. I believe this was discussed before if you need more details.

Feedback on lower cost Asus wireless routers

I own a Asus RT-AX86S as node, it is doing exactly what it needs to do (100/100 connection). It is supported by Merlin BTW, the same firmware as the AX86U

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

I have almost the same setup, only a Ax86s as node. In my experience running the latest Merlin beta on the router and latest stock on the node (both 388) gives the best stability. You can give it a try if you want.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

I like having my WiFi configuration on 1 page as with SmartConnect... why do you believe it is more trouble than it's worth?

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

AX86U: Dirty upgrade from 386.7_2 to 388.1-beta 1. Everything runs smooth, the only thing I have are some strange lines in the log file: Nov 8 07:30:39 bsd: bsd: Sending act Frame to 34:79:16:XX:XX:XX with transition target eth6 ssid 7c:10:c9:XX:XX:XX Nov 8 07:30:40 bsd: bsd...

    Optimizing wifi

Which region are you located? I'm in the Netherlands and many devices don't like the higher 5ghz channel, you could give channel 32 a shot which works best for me.

What's the best way to force all traffic through the pihole for any devices that may have hardcoded DNS on an ASUS router (rt-ax86u) with Merlin?

Just to be sure, the Gateway address (192.168.2.1) is the IP address of your router right? Somehow the DNSfilter works on the DNS server of my ISP (T-Mobile Netherlands), but not on the Google DNS server. Anyone experienced something like this? I don't understand why this is happening.

What's the best way to force all traffic through the pihole for any devices that may have hardcoded DNS on an ASUS router (rt-ax86u) with Merlin?

@bennor thanks for all your support. I've tried that, didn't make a difference. if a configure a static DNS on a client (tried with laptop and phone), the DNS request doesn't go through Pi-Hole. I even tried a different firmware version: merlin 386.7_2 -> 386.5_2. And tried another way of...

What's the best way to force all traffic through the pihole for any devices that may have hardcoded DNS on an ASUS router (rt-ax86u) with Merlin?

Yes i did, snbforums which was showing the adds. I've change the settings of my phone back to DHCP and the adds are gone again.

What's the best way to force all traffic through the pihole for any devices that may have hardcoded DNS on an ASUS router (rt-ax86u) with Merlin?

I've done exactly that, even rebooted the router and Pi hole. Have a fixed ip and dns at my phone, the dns request are not visible in Pi Hole. Not from my phone ip or the router ip. I noticed that in the connection log the entry is marked as "unreplied", could that be the reason? .80 is my...

What's the best way to force all traffic through the pihole for any devices that may have hardcoded DNS on an ASUS router (rt-ax86u) with Merlin?

I have my pi hole address as DHCP DNS server. In Dnsfilter "router" as global filter setting and the pihole Mac address in the client list with no filtering. System log -> connection shows that all traffic on port 53 goes to my pi hole OR from my pi hole to the upstream DNS server. I've set...

What's the best way to force all traffic through the pihole for any devices that may have hardcoded DNS on an ASUS router (rt-ax86u) with Merlin?

You are right, now everything is shown as traffic is from my router instead of the clients...

What's the best way to force all traffic through the pihole for any devices that may have hardcoded DNS on an ASUS router (rt-ax86u) with Merlin?

I've changed my settings to this with my pihole as DNS server in the DHCP server tab. Devices are shown individual in Pi-hole, not all as router.

What's the best way to force all traffic through the pihole for any devices that may have hardcoded DNS on an ASUS router (rt-ax86u) with Merlin?

I'm having the same in my network and don't have the answer unfortenately. Hopefully someone else has. EDIT: did some digging, maybe this will do the trick: LAN -> DNSFilter (192.168.1.110 is my pi-hole). I'm testing right now.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

Just a question; why did you choose to run Merlin also on your Node and not stock firmware? I'm running stock on my node but I am wondering what would be the "best". Thanks
