CAT5e or CAT6 cable to connect Patch Panel to Switch

So now you're looking for cable managers for the rear only? If this is the case, the one you have in the link with the fingers and cover is really meant for the front. Take a look at new patch panels, any brand, the ones with the cable support on the rear. If you want to get cable managers...

    Managed PoE switch recommendation please

On a cost per port basis, isn't that a lot more expensive? You can get poe switches so cheap nowadays, it's hard to figure out the real benefits. Even the Netgears, TP-Links, etc. are a bit more expensive than the other brands but you can get some of their series with lifetime warranty, where...

CAT5e or CAT6 cable to connect Patch Panel to Switch

Cable managers are both cosmetic and purpose. Whether it be 1U or 2U is really up to you. How much space you can afford to give up, the look you want, how much slack you trying to hide. For me, I didn't have much space to give up so I decided on a lacer bar instead. As for slack, I was...

Adjusting Data Rate and Threshold on Cisco CBW Access Points

@Trip - Thank you so much. That gave me a better understanding. I was able to tweak my roaming a hair bit better. That was a good article too. Overall I like this CBW, but I'm disappointed I couldn't get this question answered on the Cisco Community forum. Anyway, I'm glad I went with the...

    coupler/joiner, is there a difference between cat5e and cat6?

If I wanted to couple 2 lengths of cable in this scenario, I would first of all make sure it's accessible like how degrub says and term one end with a 110 jack and the other a rj45 connector.

CAT5e or CAT6 cable to connect Patch Panel to Switch

It all depends on the bandwidth you want to put on the cable and run lengths. But the cable run will be the slowest item on it. For example, if I have CAT6 cable with CAT5e connectors and jacks, the cable will not pass for CAT6 standards. So if I put a device that needs the full CAT6...

Adding an AP to an existing router: same or different SSIDs?

Hi: I'm a little late to the game. I had the same equipment. I started off with the RT-AC68U and needed to expand coverage since I started working from home and I have network drops around the house so I tried the EAP-225 to add to my network. I decided on something else so I'm currently not...

    Access Point Advice

Hi Adooni, Honestly, I jumped into upgrading all my gear without doing research and understanding of the entire network as a whole. I jumped in just upgrading individual components based on what I thought was the best and best for me. I wanted to upgrade to AP's vs. consumer all-in-one-router...

    Access Point Advice

Hi Haribo, When did you purchase the 3-pack? I thought that deal was gone maybe a couple weeks after I posted. But good for you. I thought that's one helluva deal. Make sure to thoroughly check it and test it within the return period. I have 5. I initially purchased 2 individually, and...

Adjusting Data Rate and Threshold on Cisco CBW Access Points

@Tech9 - no prob, i appreciate you responding. I can understand the UI being different but I was hoping the same adjustments were in there.

Adjusting Data Rate and Threshold on Cisco CBW Access Points

@ColinTaylor - I appreciate the help but it didn't help clear my confusion still. I have that guide but since you were so kind to pass me the link, I did read that section again. In fact, the guide mentions "SSID" thresholds, but the software doesn't even call it that. The software calls it...

Adjusting Data Rate and Threshold on Cisco CBW Access Points

No one? If I'm not mistaken, my question is not necessarily for Cisco CBW users. I believe all the business grade access points have the capability to make similar adjustments, maybe not in terms of "data rates" but by RSSI values. Thanks!

Adjusting Data Rate and Threshold on Cisco CBW Access Points

Hi: I have Cisco CBW240AC access points. In the controller software, Under Advanced RF Parameters, I don't understand the difference between adjusting the 5.0 Ghz Threshold (6,9,12 Mbps, etc.) vs. adjusting the 5.0 GHz Data Rates with the same selections, 6,9,12 Mbps, etc. I'm not sure if the...

Hey, Thanks so much again. Appreciate the responses.

    Access Point Advice

Hey all, If anyone is interested, but buy at your own risk... Amazon is selling the Cisco CBW240AC, 3-pack for 263.87. That's an insane price considering I paid 165.00 each for my first 2. I received my 3 pack earlier this week and so far everything seems good (2 of 3 hooked up). They were...

    Mesh Vs. AP

Hi All, I appreciate all the response. @jasonreg - That's a lot of house to cover and I won't even ask why so many wireless devices. That's awesome you can cover that much house with only 3 AP's. What I was curious though, is why can't you or wouldn't you go closer to your full ISP speed...

    Mesh Vs. AP

Thanks for your responses. Why, and why specific to said speed? Please expound on that. Let me turn my original post into an example.... --------------------------------------- I move into a 2 storey home (~2500 sq ft) with cat6 drops in every room and area that you might put a network...

    Mesh Vs. AP

Hi All, I wanted to get some real life feedback from those to have experience with Mesh and AP systems (wired of course). The feedback I wanted is mainly focused on performance and stability/reliability between the two for the home setting. We can stretch out the setting to a very small...

    Access Point Advice

@Trip, Ok, you were right again (no surprise there), going to higher density mode made the range worst but I got what I asked for which was switching to 5G when possible... I had to change it back to the Low setting, not a good trade off. No way around it, i need to add units. I forget what I...

    Access Point Advice

Hi: Sorry for the delay but I wanted to report back my experience so far. So it's been about 3 weeks and I've been running two Cisco CBW240, one on each floor. I'm really stretching the limits with these 2 units as I am trying to get roaming coverage on the outside of the house as well...
