I was at Best Buy yesterday and saw in their overstock area the R6400 (FCC ID: PY315100300). It was “made in Vietnam,” and as the name suggests it supports up to 450Mbps in the 2.4 GHz band and 1300Mbps in the 5 GHz band.

There is no product page, support pages, or a press release on this product to be found anywhere on Netgear.com. As of this moment, I can only see that Best Buy and NewEgg.com are carrying the product. Product photos and details can be found on NewEgg for now:

If (only) Best Buy carries it; not worth buying, ime.

I suspect it's just like Asus's RT-AC68R / RT-AC68P - just a specific SKU for retailers like BB.

Wasn't there a discussion a few weeks ago on how the R6400 was just a rebranded model (I forgot from which)?

I believe the discussion was about the R6700, and not the R6400.

The R6400 is being announced officially today. The R6400 replaces the R6300 in the product line. The R6400 will be available in all channels including online. Early shipments went to Frys and Best Buy. Expect online sellers to see the product shortly.

It will match the specs of the R6300 in a similar form factor to the R7000. It will have a adjustable antennas but they will not be removable to keep cost down. The R6400 has an update to some of the software features of the R7000 latest release including ReadyShare Vault. It is an AC1750 spec with a 2.4 gig band speed of 450mbs and a 5ghz speed of 1300mbs similar to the R6300.

The new antenna design should increase range and performance. It will be priced at $149.

Here is a link to download a pdf from Product marketing with specs and product comparisons.

Could be. I wish manufacturers would stop shipping so many SKUs, it's next to impossible to keep track of them these days...

Always amazed at how a company specialized in such products don't know how to properly write GHz, MHz, etc.

They do have GHz. in one place *smile*. My guess is that this slide is more internally aimed than as external marketing material. There's also some confusion between MBps and Mbps in the USB throughput area, so I don't think that extensive proofreading has been done for external release of this chart.

But I could be wrong. I find the chart interesting, none the less.

Yes it is an internal chart. I provided it to this audience as I thought you would find value in it.

Certainly hope this is consistent with Netgear's Media Policies - this does look like an internal document, and one that likely would be focused towards reseller's, big-box, and VAR's, not towards general public.

Thx for sharing...
