I have same problem. With last official firmwares 378.9313 and merlin 378.56_2 problem persists too.
I downgroaded to official 376.3861 and the connection is totally stable.
Have you detected any merlin version that no causes problem?

I tried disabled the QoS and NAT,the issue seem like not happen, but I am not sure. I will keep eyes on this issue.

I'm confused about this issue. Tried merlin 378.56_2 again and wan terminated (no qos, no vpn,....).

Same problem with last asus firmware. I suspect that have added feature or increments any query frecuency that my ISP (movistar) interpreted as malicious and dropping connection.
I'll notify to assus support about this.

This is one log:

It seem the issue was not happened again, I don't why, Maybe it was caused by QoS or NAT, just I guessed

The PADO timeouts indicate it was most likely an ISP-related issue.

Thanks everyone. But, why this does not happen with older versions?

I was mostly referring to Wilkie since his issue has since disappeared on its own.

In your case, check if your modem loses sync. Try turning it off for 5-10 minutes to fully reset your connect, then try again.

I'm desperate with this issue. It has not worked neither power cycles on/off nor cleaning nvram.
I would install merlin firmware but do not know which version is based on the 376.3861 (only one that works fine to me)

What this log meaning? I get it every four hours on firmware 376.3861, is not a problem on this version but.... could this be the problem on newer versions? roughly four hours is the time that router remains the connection before "Modem hangup".

pptpd[1837]: CTRL: EOF or bad error reading ctrl packet length.
pptpd[1837]: CTRL: couldn't read packet header (exit)
pptpd[1837]: CTRL: CTRL read failed

thanks

It means you have enabled the PPTP VPN server, and some random scanners on the Internet are trying to connect to it.

Hi Merlin, I often experienced an issue about the minidlna whatever the firmware version, my minidlna client can't see full directory list after the AC66U rebooting, if I need to fix this, I only reboot this router again. But I don't know why, and I can see the 3 minidlna processes was actually running when the issue happened. thanks in advanced.

Finally, installed merlin version 378.52_2, connection is stable for 24 hours.
Its the only one merlin's version that I have suceeded.

Thanks very much
