    DNS Director - Proprietary?

Wow, that's a great suggestion I was not aware of at all. Thanks for mentioning it to me - I am going to go check it out and learn about it now. I was thinking it was time I moved on from AC to AX for WiFi... but if I can still get life out of my current hardware (and get security updates...

    DNS Director - Proprietary?

Thanks for the reply @RMerlin and @Tech9. If I end up having to reluctantly move away from ASUS/Merlin, it's good to know I have this capability. I just wish everyone made the interface as nice as DNS Director!!

    DNS Director - Proprietary?

Hi all. My RT-AC68Us are heading to End of Life. I was thinking of upgrading to another ASUS Router since I like Merlin so much, but for a number of complicated reasons I may have to use a PFSense/OpenSense router (or a LinkSys Router running Open-WRT / DD-WRT). One of the main features I use...

Can’t forward new ports (just old ones)

Thanks for the replies, guys. While I guess it would have been a productive exercise to troubleshoot and see if there was a bug ... I did a HARD reset on the router, got everything clean / fresh install ... and now the ports are forwarding correctly... I tried to avoid it ... but it helped!

Can’t forward new ports (just old ones)

Hi all. I’ve searched multiple threads on here and Google, but remain stumped. Short of completely factory resetting the router to see if that fixes things, I’m dealing with the following. 1. Fiber internet (consolidated) which gives an automatically assigned IP address (not PPOE that needs...

Can I Use Both AiMesh (Wired) and VLAN?

Do the nodes need to be one of the VLAN-supported models or just the main router?

Can I Use Both AiMesh (Wired) and VLAN?

I want AiMesh to help with whole property coverage. Nice way to utilize my older routers (rt-ac68u), since I have wired Ethernet in every room - can easily drop nice nodes for coverage. Would be great to have vLANs for an IoT WiFi network for example - but I need/want each AiMesh node to also...

Can I Use Both AiMesh (Wired) and VLAN?

I really am closing to pulling the trigger on RT-AX86U Pro … but I have wired back haul I spent a lot on and want to use aimesh nodes - but these nodes are all ac68u - seems the whole network will be restricted to 80mhz instead of 160mhz unless I upgrade everywhere!!

Can I Use Both AiMesh (Wired) and VLAN?

Hard to justify $200 for the RT-AX86U Pro (it’s on sale right now), as it’s still older hardware I think … Debating whether I need the RT-AX88U Pro for the extra 2.5gb LAN. I could use that port to connect my NAS (but then have to pay more money for a 10GbE adapter for my Synology!!).

Can I Use Both AiMesh (Wired) and VLAN?

But the AX would still broadcast a stronger and WiFi 6 signal? It won’t be rate limited by the nodes right?

Can I Use Both AiMesh (Wired) and VLAN?

Thanks… looks like I need to get on the AX train … Okay to use AX main router and AC as AiMesh nodes?

Can I Use Both AiMesh (Wired) and VLAN?

yes, it seems the RT-AC88U Pro doesn’t exist on ASUS website (at all?!).

Can I Use Both AiMesh (Wired) and VLAN?

Hi there. I've used Merlin on all my ASUS router for what I think is at least a decade - this question may not be specific to Merlin, but since I use Merlin for everything I figured it's good to have that background as a "constant." Currently have two RT-AC68Us in my property on a wired...

Any usefulness for Skynet + pfsense/opnsense in transparent bridge mode?

Great, thank you. I'll keep a "soft hunt" for a deal on a good pfSense machine (or OPNsense ... I'm still confused on which one I should try first! Any suggestions for a beginner?).

Any usefulness for Skynet + pfsense/opnsense in transparent bridge mode?

Thanks, that's a good suggestion. I assume you mean in transparent bridge mode, right? Because my ASUS router is running as the DHCP server? I'm not sure if this is what is called a "Double NAT" if I let both of them be DHCP servers?
