Looking for feedback: Anyone considering AiCloud important to them?

Then the recommendation would be to go straight to a warning it will be disabled if the update is installed and the user would have to manually re-enable it along with the accompanying means to do so replete with the annoying reminders about security. That said, it's just an idea. With only...

Looking for feedback: Anyone considering AiCloud important to them?

A naive question but, could not the shutdown and removal of AiCloud be incorporated with a routine update to AsusWRT-Merlin? Something along the line of: (1) the update checks to see if AiCloud is enabled (or better yet, running); if yes (a) the user is warned AiCloud will be disabled by...

    2 internet providers

Just curious why you didn't just mesh the Wi-Fi because on the surface it seems to be a better/faster/cheaper solution with superior performance over cable?

    Synology Mesh questions (RT6600ax)

Hello everyone! I'm having some trouble I think will be resolved going to a Mesh network but may be addressed using Range Extenders and I'm looking for advice, help, and suggestions. We have a 4-story building of about 4.000 SF that meanders down a fairly steep mountain slope at around 7,800'...

    Need buying advice on mini-PC

That's quite a little box there! I can think of several workers in our offices that would do just fine, thank you, with that. Amazing.

    GT-AX6000 or RT6600ax

I just finished bringing Synology RT6600ax #1 of 2 online at our HQ, replacing our old Asus RT-AC87R's. I have to agree Asus' line has the better bang-for-the-buck, etc. That said one might ask why we chose to go with RT6600ax's, which seems to be the point of this thread. So here it is...

Synology drives only (DS1522+) - OUCH!

Mike-48, the systems I cover now are all 2½" SSDs, save the aged Apple iOS stuff. The endpoint pro-consumer SSDs get FW updates about every 14-18 months and have for the last several years. I don't recall ever updating FW on HDDs, in endpoints or mass storage, but change happens. Interestingly...

Synology drives only (DS1522+) - OUCH!

I've been poking the compatibility list off and on the last several months. They do seem to have gotten a lot better about it all; that shot they took across the bow was… less than bright for the SOHO/consumer customers. Their large commercial customers doubtless already buy their branded stuff...

    RT-AC68U Slow LAN

It could be the Powerline adapters are on different circuit breakers, they could be on different electrical phases, maybe also power adapter / charger warts on the circuits — especially at the "receiving" end(s). It seems pretty common to have a 30+% loss of speed over Powerline Ethernet even on...

Need help with protecting my wifi from a neighbor

Man that's the truth! Apple's default randomized MAC addresses can drive both you and your users nuts, especially if you need to isolate one or more of those devices. Alright, who put a new device on without telling me??!! (Yes, I realize this thread is old and stale thread, but so am I.)

When should I start preparing to replace my DS1515+ with a new model?

https://www.synology.com/en-us/products/DS1522+ — or maybe an upgrade with the update — https://www.synology.com/en-us/products/performance#5_8bay

I'm still struggling with Step-1, admitting I am powerless over the GAS

Future predictions - which AX router will be supported longest?

You're correct. When we shut off QOS on our 87's the speeds more than doubled, an issue not previously noticed until we upgraded our internet service to 1G — the best available at both of our sites.
