    R7000 firmware questions

I've had good luck with V1.0.5.44_1.1.77. It's been working great for months, even after having new steel siding put on the house & separate garage.

    Bad Asus Customer Service

I would just like to know why Asus thinks that I should pay for shipping when it is obviously their fault. I'm not the one who shipped an untested, faulty replacement to their customer. I guess it's time to call the B.B.B.

    Bad Asus Customer Service

So I've had an Asus RT-AC66R router for almost 2 years. It had never worked properly. It had the degrading 5Ghz issue. I bought a Netgear R7000 to replace it & waited for almost a year for firmware that would restore functionality to the AC66R. It never happened. I RMA'd it and received a...

Wireless speed dropoff with Intel AC7260 Wireless Card.

"Ad Hoc QoS Mode... WMM Disabled" Change to "WMM Enabled" Can try it with "Throughput Booster" enabled or disabled. Results vary. On the power management tab make sure "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked. Go into Control Panel > Power Options (if you...

External antenna from PCE-AC68 PCIe card

Might not get much of a gain. There will be some signal loss due to the length of the cables.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.49 is out

Just tried this build. In 5ghz bridge mode, using the 2.4ghz radio as an access point is broken. Didn't try the other way around. Reverted back to 376.48 update 3. I'm using a RT-AC66.

    Netgear "Nighthawk" R7000 Antennas

I use those on my R7000. I get a little better range on the 5Ghz & a lot better range on the 2.4Ghz side. I run the stock R7000 antennas on my Asus PCE-AC68 card & always get a 1.3Gbps connection rate with a sustained (depending on the file type & size) 50MBs to 100MBs transfer speed. Router...

    Help with phantom wifi/inSSIDer

What's weird is that it looks like a burst transmission in inSSIDer. Right now it's not there. In 5 minutes it will be back with a short burst at around -51dBm.

    Help with phantom wifi/inSSIDer

I think it's just the local emergency services. I'll check it out more tomorrow. To cold right now. Tomorrow will be a toasty 20 degrees.

    Help with phantom wifi/inSSIDer

I came across a mac starting with 62:45:B0 tonight also. Have you found where the signal is coming from yet? Mine appears to be coming from outside the front of my house at a signal strength of -60dbm. The signal is intermittent. I live in a town of 60,000 so there are networks all over the...

WARNING: DLNA and HDD sleep time

You don't want to disable the sleep function completely. You want it to spin down when you're not using it. If I remember right, the stock spin down time was something like 8 seconds. I set all my Western Digital drives to 300 seconds, which is 5 minutes.

    PCE-AC68 paired with RT-AC68U

I've seen it with my AC1750 router. It maxed out at 109MBps once for about 10 seconds. Granted that's not very long, or a sustained speed. My average is between 60 to 80MBps depending on the file types being transferred. I removed the metal screens from the windows in the computer room for...

    PCE-AC68 paired with RT-AC68U

You have to test which channel works best for you in your environment. For me it is channel 157. I get the highest throughput on this channel, and also the highest link rate. With the lower channels I can get a good link rate (866 or so) but the throughput is atrocious. I think one of my...

    PCE-AC68 paired with RT-AC68U

ikoul, have you tried turning the 5Ghz radio off & back on? Or going into the Wireless Professional page & clicking apply again? I ask this because this is what my Rt-AC66R requires everyday to utilize the maximum throughput. Mine requires this whether I'm using Merlin's firmware or the stock...
