Asus AXE1600 3.0.0.6.102_36382 broken dual wan

Hey,

Asus AXE1600, upgraded to recently released 3.0.0.6.102_36382 firmware.
WAN links became unstable, so full reset / restored entire network.
WAN links - stable again.
Issue. Dual WAN no longer works. In WAN > Internet Connection tab > WAN Index > Want Type > if I select 10G Ethernet or 2.5GB WAN. The SAME config is being applied to both.
Previously, you clicked on drop down, at the options would load > enter settings > done.
Now > click dropdown > no change. Whatever you enter is set for both WAN links.
I then tried 'Add Profile' but that is also broken. If I create multiple profiles, the dropdown box in the profile page does nothing. There is no way to bind a profile to a link = same above - same config on WAN links. Appreciate any help, tried searching forum, YouTube, Reddit - did not find anything to help.
Each WAN link set a primary link + right WAN config does work > WAN do work when configured properly.

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thank you.

I'd roll back, new FW is flakey.

Thank you Indi. Bit the bullet had went through the process, some notes for anyone who goes through the same issue:
1. Firmware recovery mode was broken, no IP being assigned by router to its local interface
2. Reset + reinit ticked reset the box. Set up a router.
3. Flash older firmware > reset + reinit again.
4. Put into emergency mode (hold reset + flip power switch on router on & hold until lights are purple (not pink on this router).
5. Restore firmware you wan to go to. (This is the downgrade)
6. Boot into router. Upgrade firmware > same firmware as restored one. (1 of 2 firmware flash)
7. Reset + reinit > repeat firmware upgrade again + reinit. (2 of 2 firmware flash)
8. Configure as usual.
9. Did not need to do anything on AiMesh nodes. Simply WPS button reset + add in mesh nodes. All added 1st time no issues.

May be best to factory reset and manually configure (don't use a saved settings file). My AX86U Pro was flakey on the new firmware so I "tested" Merlin for a day or so then flashed Asus then reset with initialize and manually configured. Added the AX86U AiMesh node and the network is much better than before.

Flashing previous firmware > could not add any aimesh nodes. Decided on a clean break > used the same method I did previously, just this time I had to contend with absolutely broken restoration mode as well😞 cried for a few minutes before getting on with it.

I have AXE16k, dirty upgrade from 9006 to 3006, dual wan 2,5 primary and USB secondary (and everything else) works great.
Only "issue" so far is I had to re-add mesh nodes (2x GT-AX6k)

dirty upgrade from 9006 to 3006

Dirty upgrade from 9006 beta to 3006 release... I'd clean it up before moving on.

Been working in IT (limited Networking experience though) for many years and one thing I learned that I try to always respect: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Fair enough, but with that experience comes the understanding and premise that you should do it the right way in the first place... beta firmware should be fully purged.

FW Reset FAQ

Reset button/webUI Restore/node removal clears settings in NVRAM; reboot restores fw defaults from CFE

Hard Reset via WPS button/webUI Restore+Initialize also clears data logged in /jffs partition

Dual WAN is broken on many Asus routers and for years. The reason this custom script exists:

Tech9, I've meant in my particular case.
I've tested with main connection via WAN, secondary via USB and both failover and fallback work as I set them up, no extra scripts.
Also, so far (1 week in) everything I tested and checked, works as well (I am as surprised as the next guy) - for me.
If I will encounter any problems, of course, the first step will be to reset and do a clean setup - as Ozark suggested.

As a disclaimer, though my account is recent, I've been lurking here for years and your (Tech & Ozark) contributions on many topics helped me with various issues through many Asus router iterations (from AC66U to AXE16k) so I highly value your opinions in general.

Do the reset to defaults because 9006 to 3006 in this case is about what... 2 years of firmware development jump? The beta firmware was posted quite some time ago and perhaps the changes in the release are substantial.

I was using Merlin with script but WAN started flapping even after reset + reinit. Both WAN links. Threw on stock & been on it since. Waiting for next Merlin release before jumping back on.

Thank you to all. Agree, the 3006 update seems to be pretty big & for me buggy with very little documentation on the new features. Will wait for Merlin release of 3006.
