ASUS TUF-AX6000 and Sky FTTP

New Around Here
Hello,

I am hoping someone can offer assistance here, because I have enjoyed using my Asus router up until now.

I currenty have Sky 500mbps FTTP. Up until recently, I had been using the Sky router with an Eero mesh system. However, after some shopping around, decided to purchase the Asus TUF AX-6000 as it met my requirements.

Up until recently, there has been no issues with the router whatsoever. However, after returning from holiday there has issues with loading certain apps, streaming, inability to load pages on safari, ring chime no longer connects.

I have tried to restart the system on several occasions to no avail. I have also reset the box where the ethernet comes from. Additionally, I have set my Asus router back to factory settings, again to no avail.

When testing download speed, there appears to be no issues with the speed with it coming in between 350-500 dependent where I am in the house.

The issue is intermittent and I can't pin down a particular app that is experiencing issues.

I have plugged my Sky router back in and have experienced no issues since.

Any advice?

There is no possible way to diagnose your problem by the above description. Your router has system log and wireless log and they may reveal details around what is happening. It can be as simple as your router on Auto is changing the channels too often on your client devices fail to re-connect. And in terms of coverage a single router can't really replace eero mesh system.

Hey, do you happen to be on latest firmware? This sounds like the same issue me and others are getting, see here:

If the occurrence of these problems coincided with the release of the latest firmware, then the problem is indeed in it, as reported by other users.

I would assume that it must be an issue with the firmware, looking at my router settings, it is on auto update. So must have updated when away on holiday. Looking at that thread, installing the previous firmware has rectified issues. Do you know which firmware is best to download?

Thanks so much - I will have a look at downloading the previous firmware. Do you know which this would be?

Using the Asus router, unplug any Sky Q and Mini boxes, and see if the issues persist. These bits of kit can be a nightmare, and if you have them, then you pretty much need to use the Sky router!

The most recent firmware version is 3.0.0.4.388_33903 (released on Mar 17), so you can try reverting to the previous 3.0.0.4.388_33427 (released in November). However, before downgrading, I would recommend you resetting the router on the current firmware (theoretically, this can fix issues you have).

I downgraded to 3.0.0.4.388_33427 earlier today and so far so good, all my problems have gone away. Sometimes it can take a while to manifest though, so will update you if anything happens.
