The cli will use geo steering to send you to the closest pop. I would be curious to understand how it does not work for you. There is no easy way to do what you ask for with cli. Please contact us on the chat again so we can understand your issue.

    NextDNS Installer

It should always pick the closest one. Contact us on support chat if it does not.

Yes we did! That's great news.

As a sane person, you should feel worried. We really dislike this solution, but unfortunately there is no other way to show a blockpage over HTTPS. We implemented this feature with a lot of care tho: * The root CA key is offline * There is a revokable first level intermediary CA that is stored...

It should just restore the resolution. Does it still fail if you reboot the router after uninstall?

You can, but you will lose most of the advanced features of our client like LAN client identification, geo steering, advanced fallback etc.

We did not change any addresses. Keep in mind that each of your configurations have different addresses. A .0 address is an addressed used for DoT or DoH. You will never get a .0 to be used with Linked IP.

I explained it, but you guys are free to believe it works differently. At this point, I think I answered why this won't be added to NextDNS, which was the original question.

The script is creating a hosts file with all the googlevideo.com hostname found in the logs from you past history, and force them to resolve to a single arbitrary IP got from one of them. So, yes it is replacing the IP of those hostnames by the a fixed IP. The way those servers are programmed...

As I said, it blocks some ads and some contents. You can see the data from one of my test session of yesterday here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1sm9bgyo32WCHLWIne9j1WgvoFbwleTVWb4ZiuIYLY_U. The ad/content columns shows the number of requests performed to fetch either ads or...

Yes I tested it, and performed some comparison tests too and tried many different approaches. There is no black magic with youtube video delivery. It’s pretty standard and it does not use anycast or voodoo tech. It’s pure unicast with signed URLS and their server validate the SNI and host...

By replacing the IP of those hostnames by the one of another, it creates 400 errors. So IT IS equivalent to blocking. You can do the test yourself. In chrome, take one of those video request in the network tab, right click and copy the curl command. You can execute it and see that you get the...

Every time such solution pops up, you have people posting positive feedback, finding they see less ads. This is called the placebo effect. Then later you get other people reporting they have issues loading content, which is inevitable with those solutions. We could add a checkbox on NextDNS...

I spent some time testing this solution. Like all other similar solutions, it does not work for two reasons: A r#—xxxxxx.googlevideo.com hostname used by Youtube CDN will not accept a different IP, you can test it with curl —resolve. You get 400 responses when pointing those hostnames to the IP...

It’s always better to report issues on github. I don’t always get notifications from this forum.

The cli should go to the portugal server. Why are you tracerouting madrid?

Yes we will add PoPs as we grow.

You are reading the wrong value. RSS is the actual memory used by the process. NextDNS client uses Go, and Go memory allocator pre-allocates large chucks of virtual memory to avoid frequent syscalls to allocate memory (it is slow). Allocated memory won’t take RAM until something is stored in it.

So you are not using the nextdns proxy described in this thread right? If you’d do, you won’t have this issue. For anycast debugging I would need a traceroute.
