Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.10 is now available for AC models

RT-AC66U-B1 dirty update from 386.9 to 386.10 (previous factory reset at 386.8 to 386.9). NVRAM usage remains similar after update at 61733 / 65536 bytes. Operating in router mode I have many DHCP reservations but no OpenVPN configured. Nightly reboot remains configured, just in case things go...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.9 is now available for AC models

Oh how I wish before I did the factory reset on my RT-AC66U-B1 I'd come across this gem of a guide to NVRAM in the FAQ, written by @RMerlin. Using SSH to get a text-based backup of the NVRAM settings and even saving it to a USB disk sounds very useful. Might be useful to others short on NVRAM...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.9 is now available for AC models

Thanks @bennor I'll keep that in mind. Users report no issues with their devices routed via 386.9. NVRAM went up by 1 byte after the nightly reboot. System log has several entries such as this: Jan 14 14:25:48 kernel: nvram: consolidating space! I was looking for the "regularly flush caches"...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.9 is now available for AC models

After reading the useful tips above from @bennor I decided to do the factory restore/reset on my RT-AC66U B1. After many hours of bad language and grumpiness, especially after enabling HTTPS login near what I thought would be the end of the process then getting locked out due to a certificate...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.9 is now available for AC models

I just noticed that the low NVRAM warning is working. A flashing alarm bell icon in the webgui gives the following message: Your router is running low on free NVRAM, which might affect its stability. Review long parameter lists (like DHCP reservations), or consider doing a factory default reset...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.9 is now available for AC models

Dirty-ish update from 386.7_2 to 386.9 on RT-AC66U B1. Power switch restart before and after f/w upgrade, but no factory reset. I'm using router mode with 3 wireless guest networks and two non-guest wireless networks. There are around 20 DHCP address reservations. Not using any VPN or any...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

Dirty update RT-AC66U B1 from 386.5_2 to 386.7_2 a few days ago and all is fine and dandy.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.5 is now available

Manual dirty update from 386.5 to 386.5_2 (keeping same settings) working nicely on RT-AC66U-B1. Thanks RMerlin.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.5 is now available

RT-AC66U_B1 succesfully updated from 386.4 to 386.5 manually installed over 386.4 without resetting any settings. The update went smoothly but a CRC error in syslog caught my eye on the first reboot after the update: May 5 06:05:04 kernel: Creating 2 MTD partitions on "brcmnand": May 5...

AC68U/Merlin 386.2_6 time scheduling working intermittently only?

Go to LAN --> Switch Control then set NAT Acceleration to disabled. Alternatively, there is a link to this from LAN --> Switch control in AiProtection --> Parental Controls --> Time Scheduling The link is underlined in the note in yellow text on the Time Scheduling tab. Time scheduling seems to...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.2_6 is now available

RT-AC66U B1 updated dirty stylee from 386.1_2 to 386.2_6 a couple of days ago. All stable, no issues. Thanks RMerlin.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

RT-AC66U-B1 dirty update from 384.18 to 386.1 went ok (RT-AC68U_386.1_2 via webui). Initially after updating I could not access the webui so I power cycled, then it worked normally. The webui seemed faster and snappier than 384.18. Not sure if I should have left it for an hour to do that...

Unknown "static" IP address in Network Map client list

Thanks for the explanation. Given the rogue client's IP address was in the automatically assigned DHCP range, and the rogue device's MAC address is not in the manually assigned IP list, shouldn't the router assume the IP is DHCP rather than static? Is that a bug, albeit a fairly minor one? Or...

Unknown "static" IP address in Network Map client list

Both router and AP are configured reboot a 4am every day, but I hard rebooted both when I discovered the unknown client. It definitely wasn't the AP's MAC address showing up in the automatically allocated DHCP range. The AP is manually allocated a static IP in the router, though this has never...

Unknown "static" IP address in Network Map client list

The client list showed an unknown and unexpected client was connected to the internet via my RT-AC66U B1 operating in router mode. The connection had been made via a wireless AP, wired to one of the LAN ports on RT-AC66U B1 router. The client had an address in the DHCP automatically assigned...

Issue with Parental Control - Time Scheduling

Sorry ChatmanR for late reply but I don't have AC86U. It may be similar to AC68U-B1, where you would go to: AiProtection - Parental Controls - Time Scheduling. The disable NAT acceleration link is there in yellow. Click on the NAT Acceleration link and it takes you to the NAT Acceleration...

Release [Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 beta is now available

384.19 changelog includes: "- UPDATED: Merged bwdpi components from 385_20630 firmware image for RT-AC68U." Does this mean the four vunerabilities/CVEs fixed in ASUS 385_20630 are also fixed in Merlin 384.19? ASUS RT-AC66U B1 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.385.20630 Security update - Fixed...

Issue with Parental Control - Time Scheduling

Parental controls time scheduling does not work reliably unless NAT acceleration is disabled. There is a link to the NAT acceleration switch from the AiProtection - Time Scheduling tab, where it says "Please disable NAT Acceleration for more precise scheduling control." The switch itself is...
