    CakeQOS CakeQOS-Merlin

Running Cake on an 86u with the latest 384.18, Diversion, YazFi and an OpenVPN client via PIA. Seems to work quite well, but my syslog is flooded with these errors : Jul 16 15:29:49 ovpn-client1[4652]: Authenticate/Decrypt packet error: bad packet ID (may be a replay): [ #18383015 ] -- see the...

WebUI not working after a while (RT-AC86u)

Alright, I'll see if I can find some time over the weekend to redo everything as per your steps. WebUI access is only via my PC.

WebUI not working after a while (RT-AC86u)

Not sure where else to look - will continue monitoring for the next few days. At least there is a workaround. Thanks for your excellent YazFi as well!

    Optimal Router Temperature

When I was running the good 'ol 68u I added 2 USB fans to the back of the router, and it dropped temps by 15c. May do the same to my 86u but am not too worried now, as CPU sits comfortably 62-65c.

WebUI not working after a while (RT-AC86u)

Update to my situation - mem usage has stabilised between 80-90% (as expected of the 86u judging from previous posts), however the WebUI still hangs, and I have to force a manual httpd service restart to reactivate. Any more ideas? No insights from dmesg or the syslog. Doesn't look like a mem...

Asus Merlin in AP mode vs UniFi access point

I don't doubt what you said - it depends on your needs really. Assuming I still had the gig connection, I would have kept pfsense but I just moved to an area without one and needed to keep things simple, and am space constrained. For mine, a consumer router with a solid 3rd party firmware is...

Asus Merlin in AP mode vs UniFi access point

Depends on what you plan to use it for? Literally moved off pfsense/Ubiquiti/managed switch about 5 days ago to a lone RT-AC86u, and I don't really miss pfsense. With this setup you could do true VLAN tagging and subnetting. Used pfsense to support my gig Internet connection and VLANs, and...

WebUI not working after a while (RT-AC86u)

I should add that when the WebUI is unresponsive the router is otherwise still fine (clients can still access the Internet, SSH works etc.). Have noticed RAM usage unusually high for the past few days (only started using the router 4 days ago and still tweaking it). It's now about 65%. Don't...

WebUI not working after a while (RT-AC86u)

Recently got a RT-AC86u and installed with the latest Merlin (384.18), and noticed WebUI being unresponsive after a while. Restarting the httpd service fixes this (service restart_httpd) as per the forums, but wondering why is this happening? Is the ASUS code still buggy after all these years...

    [RT-N18U] Slow wireless file transfers

Thanks for the reply - will see if 5 is congested, as 1,6,11 are quite congested already.

    Asuswrt-Merlin on RT-N18U

I just upgraded to the N18U from a 9yo WRT54G running Tomato, and what a breath of fresh air! On my "3rd world" 20mbps connection I didn't realise I was bottlenecked ( downloads maxed at 1.9mb/s vs now 2.3mb/s!) even though the WAN-to-LAN speeds for the WRT54G is supposedly much higher...
