Guest Network has no internet access unless I enable access to intranet

Fwiw, I had to change my main LAN subnet from /16 back to /24 for my meshed guests to access internet again yet keep Intranet disabled (since they were getting assigned 192.168.101.x or .102.x addresses with only a DNS of .101.1 due to the VLAN).

Wifi devices get different subnet's IP address assigned

Are you connecting to the Asus' guest WiFi network #1 which has an IP address of 192.168.101.x or 192.168.102.x?

Guest network web access but main wifi Nada?

...then you need to change one of the two to use something else. Newer Asus routers use 192.168.50.x for this reason. Guest wireless uses 192.168.101.x for 2.4 ghz and 192.168.102.x for 5ghz. However bridge mode should work fine on the isp device, there is nothing for the Asus to recognize...

DHCP question based off of logs

A bit of an explanation here: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/yazfi-v4-x-continued.83846/post-831243 Asus firmware treats Guest Network #1 (likely for AiMesh use) differently and that is likely why you are seeing those two IP address ranges (.101.* and .102.*). Typically when using YazFi it...

386.10 on AC86U losing all 2.4Ghz devices (seemed to be fixed in 386.9.0)

...Before rebooting, tailed the syslog.log via ssh and saw a device repeatedly storming the 2.4 network with an odd RFC1918 address - 192.168.101.x instead of 192.168.1.x (my CIDR) and repeatedly disconnecting/reconnecting/disconnecting/reconnecting, etc. Shows up as TizenRT with an OUI of...

How to let Devices see each other in Guest network?

If one uses YazFi its possible: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/yazfi-allow-communication-between-2-4ghz-and-5ghz-networks.82799/ https://www.snbforums.com/threads/yazfi-combining-guest-networks-subnets.78772/ https://github.com/jackyaz/YazFi#custom-firewall-rules Note that YazFi doesn't...

Solved ZenWifi AX XT8 Ethernet Backhaul does not work for Guest Network

AFAIK Guest Network 1 is the only one that works across "All AI Mesh Nodes". On my system the XT8 assigns addresses is in the 192.168.101.x range for 2.4GHz and 192.168.102.x range for the 5 GHz-1 band regardless of the network settings for the "main" network. The IP addresses assigned appear...

    Kill switch + reboot

Perhaps try to create a range that excludes the IP of your router? Under "Paranoid Mode", as soon as a VPN tunnel gets re-established, all traffic would be allowed out over it, including DoT.

How does Guest Networks work on the technical level behind the scene ?

Use the forum search, there are various posts on writing scripts to perform various actions. If you want more control over Guest Network(s) and are not using AiMesh then you may want to consider installing Asus Merlin firmware (if your router is supported) then using the addon script YazFi. The...

I remember when fridges were used to keep things cool. Now they attack your network! Lol!

Guest network web access but main wifi Nada?

The ISP modem/router in bridge mode has a LAN IP of 192.168.1.1, 255.255.255.0. I have enabled 2.4Ghz wifi band to facilitate administration with DHCP enabled. The Asus RT-AC86U has a LAN IP of 192.168.50.1, 255.255.255.0. The WAN connection is PPPoE with manual DNS server entries (just my ISP...

    Guest SSIDs and VLAN tagging

...behind the scenes on the Asus router? Currently when it I disable intranet access to the guest SSID's it assigns (seemingly randomly) 192.168.101.x / 192.168.102.x IPs when I have the Asus DHCP router turned off. That's fine and all, but is that just internal logic of the Asus Merlin...

    Guest SSIDs and VLAN tagging

Option 1 seems more easy to accomplish, but option 2 seems more elegant and correct in the long run. For option 1, are you able to tell me how it decides on the IP's it hands out to devices that connect to them? EDIT: (ie, the last part of the 192.168.x.x) I assume the 101 and 102 are...

Solved Guest Network on AiMesh Node has access to LAN on AiMesh Router

...388) for Guest Wireless 1 was so that the blocking of LAN could be extended to the nodes, which wasn't the case before. If your guest devices on the node are getting 192.168.101.x or 192.168.102.x then the VLANs are working and propagating, but something is causing it to bypass the firewall...

NTP Intercept causes Eufy Doorbell camera not to work

Curious, probably out of topic. Always get Guest network 1 with 192.168.101.x and 192.168.102.x with port 53 unreplied. Works with DNS director (other than Router redirection) with port 53 assured. Need to adjust Guest clients with same subnet mask as router’s? Also not sure if this is best...

IP address binding - "is not a valid IP address!" error

...AC68U) firmware version 386.5, I have guest networks setup for IOT devices. DHCP assigns the tertiary IP values in the 101 range (ex. 192.168.101.xxx). If I attempt to lock in an assigned IP address it errors with "192.168.101.xxx is not a valid address!" -see attached image. This has...

Reserved IP address on Guest network

My guest network (1) is specified for all AIMesh nodes, and assigns 192.168.101.x ip addresses. The mechanism in the GUI does not allow bindng the MAC and IP addresses, claiming the IP address is invalid. In my opinion this is a bug, and I reported to Asus 4 FW versions ago (for my 66U B1)...
