RT-AC5300 5G_2 Band Issue ... Is It Dead?

Wow, ok. I've always used smart connect which distributes clients across the two bands. I hadn't realised this was an issue. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

RT-AC5300 5G_2 Band Issue ... Is It Dead?

Hmmmm ... Doubt I can help. The available options with channel select etc are exactly what you get when smart connect is enabled and may relate to some persistent nvram settings. The only thing I could suggest to ensure is that you performed the factory default reset after flashing the firmware...

    Repeater Mode Lan Ports

Is that also the case for dual band and tri band Asus routers? Not being facetious, I've only used a Netgear extender which utilises one band for backhaul and advertises the other band whilst the ethernet port is still available for client connections. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

Unable to reach VPN server in two-router setting

Sorry I just saw this post. I know it's kind of irrelevant now but just to clarify, src is the address used when initiating an outbound connection. In a situation where you have multiple IP addresses assigned, src will be the address used when a process is not bound to a specific IP address.

Unable to reach VPN server in two-router setting

    Yep that's definitely your issue. On mine: roguetr@replicator:/tmp/home/root# cat /tmp/resolv.conf nameserver 203.12.160.35 nameserver 203.12.160.36 A quick check of my nvram shows: wan0_dns=203.12.160.35 203.12.160.36 dnsfilter_custom1=203.12.160.35 wan0_dns=203.12.160.35 203.12.160.36...

Unable to reach VPN server in two-router setting

With regards to Merlin disabling features, I also have an RT-AC5300 and that's not my experience. I have more features because of it. Is this something you experienced? Just to elaborate, I host OpenVPN with far more options than I was able to on stock and I use the specified ports for link...

Unable to reach VPN server in two-router setting

This is a rushed reply so bare with me ... LAN to LAN definitely makes a difference to how you'll need to configure. Just to clarify, you are connecting the two routers via their LAN ports? If that is the case, the WAN port on router 2 should not be configured with the same subnet, preferably...

Asus AI cloud IPhone app uploads?

I'd consider a feature like that to be a little above the poor man status. Most cheap dedicated NAS devices will have cloud sync and remote access apps but the mobile device photo sync stuff I've only really seen with Drobo. The DroboPix app does exactly what you're asking but Drobo isn't cheap...

Unable to reach VPN server in two-router setting

I'm assuming the WAN IP is a typo and should be .11 You're scenario is different. You won't need to route to an IP address on the same subnet. Assuming you can connect to the VPN server locally, then you should only need to port forward from router 1. You're going to run into other potential...

Unable to reach VPN server in two-router setting

Just sending this in case you don't get a reply ... As hinted at by myself and suggested by @eibgrad ... The most likely issue in that configuration is ensuring the default gateway or routing is correct from the VPN server/router. If you can access the internet from the cli of the VPN server...

Where to find AC86U Samba Share on Windows 10

If you bring up the run box (windows key + R) or an explorer window (windows key + E) and type in: \\router-hostname or \\router-IP Do you see the configured share? Obviously replace either of the above with the router's actual hostname or IP address. If it shows, just create a drive...

    [RT-AC88U] NAT Passthrough Panel

I wouldn't say it's best practice, rather maybe configuration streamlining. Really, these are just additional features of the NAT implementation. What you allow and don't allow via NAT can be controlled in other ways. Disabling each one may reduce the kernel footprint a little, assuming it...

Asus RT-N66U Drops some non-computer connections

I'm guessing you know the 2.4Ghz is working so I wouldn't get to caught up with whether this software can interface correctly with your hardware. It may just be a limitation of that software with your hardware. Maybe try a mobile app like WifiAnalyzer. Testing at a closer proximity will at...

Asus RT-N66U Drops some non-computer connections

Usually you need to tell the analyser which spectrum to report on. I doubt many show both simultaneously ... But I agree with router placement. If you know reliably how long theses devices stay connected with the current layout, test with them closer for an extended period. Sent from my MI 5...

    Router lease wont renew

Yeah, it didn't sound like the router was at fault and I've never met a surfboard modem I've liked. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

    Router lease wont renew

Tbh I don't really know if your bridging the surfboard or acquiring local DHCP. Cable connections can be very pedantic about the MAC address and usually you will have to clone the MAC of the cable modem in a bridged scenario. If the question is just whether the router is able to obtain a DHCP...

    Router lease wont renew

I just meant that by changing the MAC you can determine if it's the router or some upstream problem. I figured you posted to try and determine the issue ... You already know changing device (and therefore MAC address) works. The first thing I'd do is change the MAC *shrug* Sent from my MI 5...

    Router lease wont renew

Weird, maybe try changing the MAC address on the router WAN interface to that of one you know works and test. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk
