    Wifi Adapter QoS and Speed (5g wifi)

    While I was fiddling around with wifi adapter settings I switched off QoS and got stuck at a very low 5g speed, back to Auto(=On) got me back to the max. Ymmv, but I find it awkward this has such a big impact, but maybe this helps someone with speed issues :D

    Keep in mind a lightning strike will damage components, mostly beyond repair but if they still work they may become a fire hazard which most insurance won't cover (when they find out).

    Wasn't that the initial finding where a problem was seen? "The router is configured with OpenVPN connection to my home LAN and routing is set up to allow bi-directional access between the two networks. This works fine functionally, but I have discovered a speed problem..." Or did I miss something?

    It does if the option is there on the vpn interface which can be effective outside the real interface (which may or may not use flow control). I don't agree FC is the same as Pause frames...

    This is more 'in preparation of' and if a 5g router is stuck at 250mb upload I won't get it. There are many reviews and specs which contradict each other, the vendor claims near 1gb upload (or more) but resellers list specs for some models to 250gb upload, of course depending if the 5g ISP can...

    Hmm not that cheap... EnGenius EnJet EnStationAC 5 GHz Outdoor 802.11ac Wave 2 Wireless Client Bridge/AP Ubiquiti IsoStation 5AC If you have an AP laying about, using (replacement) directional antenna's may be a lot cheaper.

    It depends on a few factors but I have noticed this can happen if you use 3g cell with this mix, 4g cell and wifi did not show this 'issue'. It may also be an ipv6 thing of your cellphone, mixing ipv6 cell with ipv4 wifi could be a problem.
