    Tailscale on Asus RT-AX86U router

I ran `opkg flag hold tailscale` to protect the manual TailScale binary that's up to date. Entware seems to update their repo very rarely.

Entware Can we check how much life a USB flashdrive has left?

I have a slow 4GB SanDisk Cruzer Blade USB 2.0 drive as my entware device, plus a smaller swap file just in case, it hasn't died on me ever since I got it over 10 years ago. Granted, it hasn't been used often either, but for various smaller projects. I intend to run it until it dies, backing up...

    Tailscale on Asus RT-AX86U router

I could have skipped the word bloat, it wasn't intended to sound pretentious.

    Tailscale on Asus RT-AX86U router

Likely because TailScale is a proprietary service first and foremost, and could close their company any day. This I imagine is to not have obsolete bloat code in Merlin firmware/amtm on future unsupported models etc, to keep the complaints lower on the forums too.

Solved Can I reach my TOR enabled Asuswrt-merlin router from within TOR?

I chose to not use Tor. etc. I might look into Tailscale or ZeroTier if I need a way in.

Solved Can I reach my TOR enabled Asuswrt-merlin router from within TOR?

Is there a way/script that shows what IP/TOR domain name within the TOR network my router's TOR "WAN" connection is using so I can bookmark it and access my router within the TOR network from my phone/laptop that's connected to TOR as well?

Keep Wireless Router mode but have AX86U automatically connect to my phone's Wi-Fi Hotspot when I am home to have that as the only Internet source?

My router doesn't detect Android devices via USB strangely enough. All firmwares and packages are up to date. I'll try switching USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 mode and see if the drivers accepts that type of USB connections.

Keep Wireless Router mode but have AX86U automatically connect to my phone's Wi-Fi Hotspot when I am home to have that as the only Internet source?

I guess I could use my old phone as a bridge with USB tethering and connecting it as a wifi client to my phone then.

Keep Wireless Router mode but have AX86U automatically connect to my phone's Wi-Fi Hotspot when I am home to have that as the only Internet source?

Can I set up my AX86U (it has Merlin) to stay in a wireless router mode, (so my intranet still has the router as a DHCP server, firewall and everything else) while setting it up to have its only Internet source be my phone when I come home and turn on my phone's wifi hotspot? This means I...

Asus routers giving out public (WAN-side) IP addresses

I'm the guy from the other thread. I solved my problem last night by running a simple DHCP server (there are several free open source ones found online) from a Windows box, with the network cable connected to my selected/active WAN port, not LAN. Basically pretending to be an ISP and log in to...

AX86U Wi-Fi connection gives my Wi-Fi devices public IP addresses and Router IP doesn't get detected in network scans.

I got lucky to remember trying to be my own ISP. I ran a DHCP server on a Windows box wired to the 2,5 Gbit port in the router and could access it through sheer luck that I still had the https port open on the WAN side. 👌 I figured out the LAN IP was not set to the usual 10.x.x.1 after...

AX86U Wi-Fi connection gives my Wi-Fi devices public IP addresses and Router IP doesn't get detected in network scans.

I have my AX86U connected straight the wall (Ethernet jack) with no modem in between my ISP and me other than the invisible backbone switches in between us. My LAN and WLAN devices (a few of them) get public IP adresses while the rest are stuck waiting for any DHCP server to give them an IP...

AX86U Wi-Fi connection gives my Wi-Fi devices public IP addresses and Router IP doesn't get detected in network scans.

I have my router's MAC adress written down. Could I use Wireshark to sniff out any packets sent between my router and the PC in the hopes of being able to set up a manual way to connect to the router through some hidden physical network port/USB or other channel? I was thinking I could try...

AX86U Wi-Fi connection gives my Wi-Fi devices public IP addresses and Router IP doesn't get detected in network scans.

That's the last resort, I think something happened when I tried to switch back from Repeater mode to Router Mode in the WebGUI and I got curious when selecting WAN type to 2,5 Gbit port instead of the 1 Gbit port. Now I can't be surr that the router itself has internet access (since the DDNS...

AX86U Wi-Fi connection gives my Wi-Fi devices public IP addresses and Router IP doesn't get detected in network scans.

I forgot to mention, the 2,5 Gbit LED is solid lit with a red color. I don't know what that means though.

AX86U Wi-Fi connection gives my Wi-Fi devices public IP addresses and Router IP doesn't get detected in network scans.

I get APIPA addresses when I try to connect a Windows PC to the LAN. Didn't get any detected IP addresses.

AX86U Wi-Fi connection gives my Wi-Fi devices public IP addresses and Router IP doesn't get detected in network scans.

I somehow cannot access the WebGUI for the router and it's kind of become a Wi-Fi repeater for my ISP instead of myself. Is there a way to access the router WebGUI via LAN cable without factory resetting it?

    WoL question on asuswrt firmware.

That would explain it. Any solutions to that?

    WoL question on asuswrt firmware.

Is sending a WoL packet via an OpenVPN tunnel (from my phone) to the LAN blocked by some internal firewall in the Asuswrt (or merlin) firmware by default?
