Better Speed to Xbox and PS3

Ok that is helpful.....so the constraint is on the Xbox servers side @ netwrks....I am on Comcast cable and my raw (wired) internet speed is 125 mbps. I find that the games download as slow as 3-4 mbps but sometimes they get up to 25 mbps. They fluctuate just as Elisha stated. On...

Better Speed to Xbox and PS3

No sorry, I mean when my kids get a new game or something it takes hours to download. I was hoping for better speed at the location...more throughput. I guess one could say is it worth it to spend another $100 for a second router just so my kids' games can load in 3 hours instead of...

Better Speed to Xbox and PS3

Hi there - pls help me I am running R7000 for a couple years and I have generally been satisfied with it. Got it during the Walmart pricing mistake on BF (2015?) for 90 bucks. Yay! I use stock firmware Have PS3 for awhile in basement and this Xmas got Xbox One S for kids too. Now I see...

New R7000 Firmware V1.0.4.18 adds new features and enhancements

Thanks It seems that I have plenty of internet speed with IP4 so I'll just leave IP6 disabled and not waste brain cells and hours of my life wrestling with that demon just so I can theoretically improve my page loading performance by 10% or whatever and risk introducing a bunch of other BS...

Netgear R7000 Transmit Power on Lower 5ghz Channels

Thanks for this. This is consistent with my limited unscientific testing. While both got good connections, the 148 channel prob was a few db better. I've just left it on 148 and am going to move on to other areas of thought/concern in my life now :) My R7000 also seems to be holding up...

New R7000 Firmware V1.0.4.18 adds new features and enhancements

Did a factory reset from within the GUI last night. Didn't roll back to 3.80 or reflash 4.18, just did a reset on the current install of 4.18. Will see how that goes. iPad was still slow but I googled and found that doing a "reset network settings" might work. Did so and it appeared to...

Netgear R7000 Transmit Power on Lower 5ghz Channels

Tried 36 and it seems to be about the same. Hard to tell exactly from Wifi analyzer but the signal might be a tad stronger on the 148 high channels. Speedtest performance doesn't show a material difference either way. That said, I am probably going to force my phone to the 2.4ghz range...

Netgear R7000 Transmit Power on Lower 5ghz Channels

Ok I see. I thought it might be a simple firmware update that could make the change. So assuming the R7000 is still limited to 50mw on the lower 5ghz bands, does that mean it is better to stick to the high bands? Or is the 20x higher power simply offset by the higher frequency which gets...

Netgear R7000 Transmit Power on Lower 5ghz Channels

I have been doing lots of reading on the internet about the difference between the lower (36-48) vs higher (148 etc) 5ghz channels. Of course when Googling one comes up with all kinds of different time periods for these conversations so I wanted to know what is current. Old wisdom...

New R7000 Firmware V1.0.4.18 adds new features and enhancements

@RMerlin and microchip No I'm not sure. How would I check that? I've not had issues in the past and after power cycling the router it seemed "better" although I haven't lived with it for many days. The router just seems to lock up connections when both my wife and I are accessing from...

New R7000 Firmware V1.0.4.18 adds new features and enhancements

Actually scratch that .... this is the firmware I already have on my unit for the past month and it has these problems of dropping connections, locking up temporarily, etc. Maybe I should just go back to my Asus router and sell the Netgear

New R7000 Firmware V1.0.4.18 adds new features and enhancements

Any chance this firmware has fixed the buggy R7000's predisposition to dropping internet connections? We're noticing times where the devices are still connected to the R7000 wifi yet they are getting a "network not available" or similar error. Lots of complaints about this on the...
