Annoying follow-up USB question (mounted but not rly?)

I'll have to dig in and read more about the ext4 issue I guess. That said, I configured the disk identically (as far as I could tell) from both the Linux laptop and the Windows tool (although the cluster size came out different...) I was surprised when even a single partition / ext2 created on...

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

I know Firefox does its own.

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

Also, if Diversion was down for some amount of time, (at least Firefox) will cache some DNS information, so even when Diversion goes back up if FF has that data for ad servers you'll keep seeing them. Look into flushing the browser DNS caches and that may help. (Source: I've had this happen to...

Annoying follow-up USB question (mounted but not rly?)

What they all said. ^^^ Edit: the thing I find funniest (and most annoying) about this is that neither partitioning and formatting the drive with a Linux laptop NOR partitioning and formatting the drive using the command line in the Linux-based router itself worked. I had to use a tool on a W10...

Annoying follow-up USB question (mounted but not rly?)

AAAAAAAAAAAaaand follow-up to this saga. FIXED IT. In Windows. lol "Mini-Tool Partition Wizard," the same tool I used on my thumbdrive in March 2018 when I first installed the scripts, was the ticket. Disk /dev/sda: 120.0 GB, 120034123776 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 14593 cylinders...

Annoying follow-up USB question (mounted but not rly?)

Well. Recreated the partition in fdisk, then reformatted in mke2fs. Which converted it to ext2... still no joy. Refuses to mount, even though it's identified as /dev/sda1... Linux83. So I try e2fsck again, and I get "Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/sda1... Grrr. Okay I...

Annoying follow-up USB question (mounted but not rly?)

    Hm, yeah. Interesting. I ran /e2fsck /dev/sda1 and it spit back: /dev/sda1 has unsupported feature(s): metadata_csum e2fsck: Get a newer version of e2fsck! Guess a reformat won't hurt. :o

Annoying follow-up USB question (mounted but not rly?)

/dev/sda2 on /tmp/mnt/KingstonShare type tntfs (rw,nodev,relatime,uid=0,gid=0,umask=00,nls=utf8,min_prealloc_size=64k,max_prealloc_s) So that's quite interesting. I wonder why it's only mounting one of the partitions? Formatted/partitioned on a Linux laptop. 10GB for EXT4, 80GB for NTFS.

Annoying follow-up USB question (mounted but not rly?)

Tried that. I have moved it from the back port to the front port and changed the system to "USB2." It still mounts as /sda1, ext4. I have successfully created a sample Samba share (on the SSD's NTFS partition, /sda2) , opened it in Windows, saved a text file to it, then opened it in SSH ->...

Annoying follow-up USB question (mounted but not rly?)

I have now done the L&LD reset and plugged in the new SSD for scripts. Formatted in EXT4. Merlin GUI sees the drive just fine, but AMTM / Skynet / Diversion all say "No compatible USB device found." In SSH, fdisk -l identifies it as /dev/sda1 Start: 129 End: 38936 Blocks: 9895785...

    Troubleshooting ntp on boot

Jack I've had the same issue intermittently for the last few weeks on the 3200. NTP doesn't sync and I wind up rebooting again. At least with your thread I have a command to try in SSH. :)

    Preferred thumbdrive for scripts?

It's an original Drobo I got in ~2013, plus 4x Seagate 2TB drives we bought the day of the huge floods in Thailand, so $69/ea. As you guys have deduced, it doesn't see a huge load; mainly just a combined storage location for the various machines in the house. ;) Werd. So you confirm that...

    Preferred thumbdrive for scripts?

SWAP FILE ON SWAP PARTITION? :o Pretty light duty. I have 5½TB of storage in a RAID5 array that's really only on the router so that more than one machine can access it; plus the Merlin firmware lets me assign different "logins" different RWX privileges on the thing vs being a Windows share. The...

    Preferred thumbdrive for scripts?

Ordered the Kingston. Won't arrive until May 4th. I HAVE TO DEAL WITH ADS FOR A WEEK? lol

    Preferred thumbdrive for scripts?

I like it. Guess I can use the balance of the space on that drive as more NAS. Guess I could also make a whole /Swap partition on there is well.

    Preferred thumbdrive for scripts?

Hey guys... so I'm on my second dead (or dying) thumbdrive now... even when I set it up to be non-journaling; Two questions: 1) How often do you anticipate replacing these things? I seem to be going on about one per year. 2) Do you have a preferred source for longer-lasting drives? Guess I...

Suricata Suricata - IDS on AsusWRT Merlin

Well now this makes me want to get a newer router. This and the fact that Merlin said my 3200 is on "life support..."

    DNScrypt dnscrypt installer for asuswrt

Fascinating... and thanks for that. I'm sure I used option 1 last time (because why else would you re-run the [curl] command? But anyway, worked this time! (Note: the condition survived several reboots over the course of a few days.) Thanks again.

    DNScrypt dnscrypt installer for asuswrt

So I updated dnscrypt-proxy using the line in post 1, and it's up to date... but the dnscrypt-installer has *not* updated and is still 2.1.3, even though AMTM tells me 2.1.5 is available. What am I missing?

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 (and 384.13_6) are now available

I had the radio die on my old AC-3100 just out of warranty... which is why I bought the 3200. The whole customer service process almost put me off Asus; but @RMerlin, @thelonelycoder , and @Adamm /Diversion / Skynet brought me back.
