    Create new virtual wireless interface?

No work-around? Any other commodity/consumer hardware that would allow more virtual wireless interfaces?

    Create new virtual wireless interface?

Yeah, turning on Guest Networking creates three virtual wireless interfaces per radio. How do I enable more/additional virtual wireless interfaces? eg if I want to create wl0.4, wl0.5, wl1.4, wl1.5?

    Create new virtual wireless interface?

Running Merlin on an AC68U and an N66U, I can't figure out how to create a new virtual wireless interface. # ifconfig | grep 'wl' wl0.1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:11 wl0.2 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:12 wl0.3 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr...

Adding extra SSIDs (aka "Guest Network")

    Playing around... I found that running these commands: nvram set wl_vifnames='wl0.1 wl0.2 wl0.3 wl0.4 wl0.5 wl0.6 wl0.7 wl0.8 wl0.9 wl0.10 wl0.11 wl0.12 wl0.13 wl0.14 wl0.15' nvram set wl0_vifnames='wl0.1 wl0.2 wl0.3 wl0.4 wl0.5 wl0.6 wl0.7 wl0.8 wl0.9 wl0.10 wl0.11 wl0.12 wl0.13 wl0.14 wl0.15'...

Adding extra SSIDs (aka "Guest Network")

I've got an N66U (Merlin 380.70) and an AC68U (Merlin 384.13). On both of these, nvram is hinting at the ability to add not just 3 "Guest Networks" (per band), but 15 guest networks (per band). Screenshot: Question 1 - How can these be turned into functioning "Guest Networks"? Question 2-...

    Read N66U CPU temperature?

Is it possible to read the N66U CPU temperature pragmatically? Similar to head -1 /proc/dmu/temperaturewhich works on other routers?

Generating self-signed certificate after changing IP address

That's exactly what I've been doing, without success on my end.

Generating self-signed certificate after changing IP address

If I change the router's LAN IP to something like 192.168.2.1, how can I generate an SSL certificate that works? I see an option for "Additional Certificate SANs", but I can only generate certificates "Issued to : 192.168.1.1". RT-AC68U 384.12

    AC66U-B1 vs AC68U - thermal issues?

Seems like the AC66U-B1 and AC68U are essentially the same hardware? Or at least close enough for my needs, and pretty much indistinguishable if they're running Merlin. Anything beyond 30-40Mb/s is "fast enough" for me. Are there any concerns about non-removable antennas on the AC66U-B1? Are...

Traffic Analyzer - Trend Micro EULA & data collection!?!?!

Does the Traffic Analyzer log traffic from all clients? Or only the top 5 consumers of bandwidth?

Traffic Analyzer - Trend Micro EULA & data collection!?!?!

    It's just creepy and invasive.

Traffic Analyzer - Trend Micro EULA & data collection!?!?!

Traffic Analyzer - Trend Micro EULA & data collection!?!?!

One of the reasons I just bought an AC68U was because I wanted the Traffic Analyzer. Apparently enabling this requires "that your information will be collected by Trend Micro through AiProtection, Traffic analyzer, Apps analyzer, Adaptive QoS and web history." Disabling data-collection also...

Upgrade from RT-N66U - Need traffic monitoring

I've even got an NZ ISP in the drop-down for setting up the VLAN.

Upgrade from RT-N66U - Need traffic monitoring

Well, it's funny how things turned out. My N66U's power-supply just died, so I went to local shop and picked up an AC68U. I paid full retail-price from an authorised seller. So I find it odd that this unit is set up from the factory as a US version, with only 11 channels on 2.4Ghz. I'm really...

International wireless standards - the opposite of harmonisation

Thanks for those answers. And yeah, wifi is ostensibly a global standard, but there's a lot of footnotes and exceptions that are country/region specific. As it relates to my problems with hardware and what I'm "allowed" to talk about in these forums, if there was real harmonisation on wifi...

International wireless standards - the opposite of harmonisation

It seems that some of my recent questions inadvertently kicked a hornets nest in terms of what can or can't be discussed here, because of FCC regulations and different wireless standards in different countries. I'm not looking to debate those topics here. What I'm curious about, is how can...

Upgrade from RT-N66U - Need traffic monitoring

My only "agenda" is to ensure that a device I own is compliant with local regulations. Seriously, I'm asking how to make a device compliant with local regulations, and with few exceptions here, I'm being treated like a criminal-hacker. Thanks to the FCCs ham-fisted regulations, and the...

    What are these country codes?

That makes sense. But I keep seeing "Q2" as a setting in nvram. That's not making sense.

Upgrade from RT-N66U - Need traffic monitoring

Please, explain to me how making a router compliant with my local regulations is in violation of US law, or "disrespectful" of US law... Also, I'm not counting responses such as this, or "we don't have to justify our policies to anyone" as "helpful". I'm actually finding such responses to be...
