[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Thanks for that, I've had a go and re-booted but no joy, the folder still doesn't appear so I can't share it. I'm far from an expert but linux format means lines end with hex 0A 10 and no 0D 13 is that correct? If so I did that. Make executable using properties in WinSCP I ticked all the...

Thank you, I understand now. Bob.

Would you please explain what you mean by guest logins in this context, it doesn't mean anything to me. For the connection that worked for about 3 years I logged in with samba using the router's admin username and password. Is that a guest login? Sorry I just don't understand. Bob.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I've just used WinSCP to create another folder called "Web_Server" and I've copied everything in asusware into it. But I then realised that that will not be enough, I've somehow got to change all the references inside the folder to suite and maybe some in the router itself. Oh dear, I suspect...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Hi John, I've been using your fork on an N66U for a long time and upgraded time after time without issue. I've missed about 6 months of upgrades and decided to fix that and updated to 28E2. The router and wi-fi seem to work fine but what doesn't is the samba shares from the USB memory plugged...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Hi John, thanks for dropping by to help. Honestly, I've never before had a problem contacting the modem and I've just been in contact with a friend who can still talk to his with no mods anywhere at all. Is this something recent in the software? I think I could just about manage you two code...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Yes, you are correct on all counts. I used to be able to talk to the modem but no more, I can't even ping it but my internet still works. Bob.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Hi thanks for the help but 192.168.1.1 is the IP of the router's lan connection not the modem. Bob.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Hi, I have a RT-N66U running software 374.43_2-22E4j9527. Everything works as it has done since I started to use the "John" fork a long time ago. Everything that is except I cannot contact the modem not even ping works. As I understand it, it should be on 192.168.100.1 it certainly was in the...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I've just upgraded my n66u from 07 to 08. I decided not to mess about and reformatted the Jffs as soon as I had done the upgrade and then rebooted twice. I was then expecting to have to put my couple of scripts back but no, for reasons I can't fathom they were still there. I plugged in my data...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

As a user of an N66U currently on 07 of your build I'm a bit worried about this. In my notes I have written that I use the Download master to setup a data stick on which I run Cherokee and a home Intranet. Your notes say I can download it again afterwards but I don't know where from or how to...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I would very much like to try this and I'm pretty sure I could manage it using putty and ssh and then typing each line one at a time but I have some questions if someone could spare the time. 1) Is there a way of reading the existing settings before doing this? Just in case I need to put...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Just installed update Just installed this update over Merlin's .43 on an RT-N66u and it seems absolutely fine. Thank you for doing the work and providing this update. Bob.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 376.44 is out

Yes, it is very regrettable but it does look like .43 is the end of the road if wireless performance on n66u is important. I'm grateful to Merlin for 43 as I believe it is pretty secure, does most of the tricks and I don't think there is much in 44 to get excited about. If only it didn't...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 is out

I dread doing an update just in case it all goes pair shaped, I therefore upgrade infrequently. Took the plunge today and updated from 374.40 to 374.43 on RT-N66u. All I did to do this was: Dismount the data stick and remove it. Upload new firmware. Plug the data stick back in. I was...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 374.42_2 is out

That may be a slight exaggeration, I would be very surprised if more than 10% of the world's population had the slightest idea what a MAC address was. Of those only a tiny percentage would attempt it. That's probably much truer but I'm not sure that's absolute. Bob.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 374.42_2 is out

Samba & Cherokee web server with 42 Hi, I have a USB data stick plugged into the USB port and from this I have a samba share across my LAN. I also have cherokee web server running on it which provides an intranet for our home devices. Cherokee is started by a script which runs when the USB...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 374.41 is out

Yes, it is always a problem when can't see the look on someone's face or the tone of their voice to read the true meaning of a message. I too am from the UK so I understand his frustration with wireless channels being so heavily restricted. I've no idea why this has occurred really but if it is...

Potential heat issues (April's Fool on webui)

I do have a sense of humor thanks, when something is funny. You can do something apparently harmless like this and for the majority that's and end to it but for someone somewhere in the world the consequences could be out of all proportion. I surprised that isn't obvious to all. When a butterfly...

Potential heat issues (April's Fool on webui)

There is no doubt that this was a very original and clever trick and I will admit utterly harmless in the direct sense. The router security was not in any way compromised. Having said all of the above, the problem with doing things like this is that there can easily be unintended consequences...
