    Selective Routing with Asuswrt-Merlin

@ozreg Would you mind sharing your configuration for this? I still can't get plex working and bypassing the VPN connection. Based on your description I gather you're not sending traffic from one local IP over the VPN, but rather routing particular ports over the VPN. I don't know if this...

    Selective Routing with Asuswrt-Merlin

I posted on the other forum and the guy stated he used the info on the following post to get his working with Tomato Shibby and I believe this is the same thing that was posted at the beginning of this thread...

    Selective Routing with Asuswrt-Merlin

I've been digging around on the Plex forums as well and came across a thread that tackles this, but I have no idea what this guy is doing when he's adding routes. Apparently the Plex.tv IP's tend to change quite a bit so he wrote a script that he runs every hour through cron on his router to...

    Selective Routing with Asuswrt-Merlin

Also I just verified that my port mapping does indeed work when I pull out the prerouting statements and Plex connects. As soon as I add them back, no matter the order, it doesn't work. So the routes are probably what is needed, but again, those didn't work the way I was adding them.

    Selective Routing with Asuswrt-Merlin

And I was wrong. That other port is only used if you don't manually choose a port in the Plex preferences. So I put a forward in from 32400 to 32400 instead, but even after adding the routes as I stated, it still doesn't connect. Frustrating.

    Selective Routing with Asuswrt-Merlin

OK. I understand how to add the port mapping, but want to be sure of what I'm doing for the routes. When I was trying them I was adding them on the command line like this: route add -net 184.169.0.0 netmask 255.255.0.0 dev eth0 route add -net 54.241.12.23 netmask 255.255.255.255 dev eth0 I...

    Selective Routing with Asuswrt-Merlin

Thanks for all this. I've tried everything and the only thing I can get to work is forwarding traffic on port 563 over the WAN and everything else from that IP on the VPN. I can't get Plex to accept incoming connections at all. Also for Plex, it's mapping an external port of 10563 to an...

    Selective Routing with Asuswrt-Merlin

I tried adding these 2 routes to the wan IP and it still didn't allow Plex to connect. I even tried just routing these addresses to the eth0 device and that didn't work either. Not sure what else to try on this...

    Selective Routing with Asuswrt-Merlin

Need more help... I thought I had at least the rules setup to have 2 ports bypass the VPN for one source IP, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I can't seem to get Plex/Web connecting on the port specified and I'm kind of perplexed. I've tried all kinds of combinations or forwarding, nat...

Ping response via wi-fi - Is this normal?

Did some research and you may be right. What I found was for MBPs using wifi and the OS will sleep wifi in between packets if there isn't any continuous net activity going on. My MBP isn't using wifi, but everything else in my house is. Even though the Mini doesn't need to conserve power for a...

Ping response via wi-fi - Is this normal?

That's an interesting thought. I actually have it set to never sleep since it's currently our media server and it's it's pretty constantly doing something. I poked around the preferences and there certainly isn't anything that's obviously turned on for this. I'll need to do some research to see...

Ping response via wi-fi - Is this normal?

This is looking stranger. Pining the opposite direction to my MacBook Pro on Ethernet where I ran it before, the response is all under 3ms from multiple sources. It's only the other direction that I'm seeing this. I don't understand that one at all. I'll update to the latest to see if that...

Ping response via wi-fi - Is this normal?

I was having some trouble yesterday with my N66U which ended up needing a reboot to get the wireless back up. Afterwards I did a ping test on one of my boxes on wi-fi and noticed the ping responses were crazy long. I have no idea if this is normal or not. I don't see any perceptible lags on...

    Selective Routing with Asuswrt-Merlin

Let me expand a bit. For whatever reason the 2 ports that I called out to be expressly routed over the non-vpn connection at all times were being blocked after I ran that DROP command and it was active. That was even though the other 2 were still active. So either I can't use that as a...

    Selective Routing with Asuswrt-Merlin

Craptastic… This had an unforeseen circumstance. It was dropping ALL traffic even if it was connected to the VPN. Meaning, my other 2 ports that I had routing over the non-vpn connection stopped working as well. Not really sure what that's all about though.

Awesome! Thank you very much. Now I have to troubleshoot why I lost all wireless communication on the router some time last night. :)

    Selective Routing with Asuswrt-Merlin

I deserved that one. I thought maybe they were already there, but these would be just like what I just created for the vpn stuff. So this should do it in either one of those scripts: --- #!/bin/sh iptables -I FORWARD -i br0 -s 192.168.1.100 -o eth0 -j DROP exit --- Correct?

Ummm… and where does one find those? :) And thanks BTW.

    Selective Routing with Asuswrt-Merlin

And YES - that worked perfectly. So I must have had something FUBARed in what I tried. So as I asked previously, should this go at the beginning or end of the list? I guess the end works since I just added it on the command line which would put it at the end. Yes?

I'll let you know in a minute or two. Stupid question, should that be at the end of the list or the bottom? Or does it matter?
