    OpnSense w/ Merlin

A little backstory...I re-purposed an old buffalo ac1750 with LEDE firmware playing around with it. I really like their QOS solution using cake and fq_codel, which isn't available on AsusWRT due to the use of an older linux kernel. Problem with it was it was a dual core at 800 Mhz and using QOS...

    OpnSense w/ Merlin

If I connect to the WAN and turn on DHCP forwarder wouldn't that still work?

    OpnSense w/ Merlin

Just a general question. I'm running OpnSense as my main router with Merlin on my ac5300 running just for wireless as an AP. Issue I have is when you run in AP mode, you lose features only available in router mode. Can anyone tell me if I can just run wireless router mode and turn off DHCP...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

So I understand what you did so I can try the same...you've used smart connect for only your 5Ghz bands instead of all 3 correct? Also, what ssids display with this setup? Is it still only showing one across your home?

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

I'm also seeing this with my 5300 and 68p (converted 1900).

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

@arthurlien I understand that. But my node doesn't support that. And Aimesh is supposed to pick the best connection based on connection strength/location rather than connecting to a specific band, or am i off on that? So should Smart connect not be used if in a mesh environment? I'm...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

@arthurlien I noticed you said the smart connect doesn't propagate to the node if the node doesn't support it. Can you explain a little more on that? Is it not recommended to use smart connect if the node doesn't support it? Will smart connect affect the dedicated back haul of the triband?

RT-AC5300 with Aimesh Beta + RT-AC68 with Aimesh

@RMerlin Is that something that can be replaced via warranty?

RT-AC5300 with Aimesh Beta + RT-AC68 with Aimesh

@RMerlin is that on Broadcom to release a fix or Asus?

RT-AC5300 with Aimesh Beta + RT-AC68 with Aimesh

Is your ac68 a converted tm1900? I have the same setup and successfully paired the two before going to bed, then when I woke up the next day it was gone, i factory reset both routers and tried to repair them and haven't been successful since...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.10007 for All Supported Products

Has anyone gotten a converted tm-1900 to work with an ac-5300? If so, how with the 5300's cfe encryption?

    382 vs 380

that's good to hear. Thanks for clearing that up

    382 vs 380

no stable version in 6 months is a pretty long time compared to the others still receiving support. But it honestly didn't bother me much because I was using Merlin's builds

    382 vs 380

Thanks @JDB for your insight. Yeah I mentioned that about the beta release and I agree with you. Hoping Merlin can incorporate it, especially with the slow/lack of updates for our model from Asus as it is.

    382 vs 380

Thank you @pattiri. @RMerlin Can you shed any light on the CPU/Ram. Is that something that should get better as build come along or an expected product of the new code base?

    382 vs 380

Hi @Stefan1200 , thanks for that. I'm also curious as to opinions about how it runs compared to 380? To add some clarification, are there features lost by moving to the 382 code base? I've seen issues of possible memory leaks...Long story short, just wondering if there was a general...

    382 vs 380

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could tell me the advantages of moving to the 382 code base? I have an ac5300 so if I did at this point it would be trying out the aimesh beta, but outside of that, what are the major advantages/disadvantages right now. Or if someone could point me to a thread...

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

Are there plans for other triband models besides the 5300's? I was hoping to not have to shell out another $300+ dollars...

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

Sorry if I missed this, but will the AC5300 be the only triband models supported? I already have 1 and was hoping maybe the 3200 would be available to use the 3rd band backbone option.
