    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

Indeed. Will have to wait for MS to stick MLO in the next Windows update before we can get true Wifi 7 speeds though. Strange to see that virtually none of the other tech news sites have reviewed the RT-BE96U. Perhaps most view the RT-BE96U as a footnote or stopgap release leading up to the...

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

Just read this on Dong Knows Tech. A sobering reminder that Wifi 7 is nowhere near ready. He assembled a desktop with the latest Asus ROG mobo that comes with the Intel BE202/200 adapter installed and connected it to the RT-BE96U but was unable to get better than current Wifi 6/E speeds as MLO...

Wi-Fi 7 Multi Link Operation (MLO) discussion

It'll be interesting to see how MLO will improve the throughput performance on quad band routers given that the current configuration (2.4G, 5G1, 5G2, 6G) ends up splitting the 5G band in half and makes it harder to be able to consistently access the DFS channels. With a number of the Wifi 7...

    GT-BE98 WIFI 7

Quad-band will be really useful for wireless backhaul I think, or segmenting your home network e.g. separate bands for family use, IoT devices etc.

Wi-Fi 7 Multi Link Operation (MLO) discussion

I didn't say that the 6Ghz band wouldn't be a game changer. MLO supposedly will allow the user to switch between the 5Ghz band which has greater range and the 6Ghz band which has higher throughput. So both can be used concurrently to overcome the shorter range encountered on the 6Ghz band as...

Wi-Fi 7 Multi Link Operation (MLO) discussion

I think the key differentiator being touted for Wifi 7 vs Wifi 6/E is Multi-Link Operation (MLO) where your Wifi 7 router and Wifi 7 client can use up to two bands concurrently or quickly switch between two bands to maximise throughput and compensate for the 6Ghz band's relatively short range...

    WBE660S / 802.11BE / AP 10GE uplink

Indeed, there tends to be a big rush to buy whenever bleeding edge tech is launched, so it'll probably be better to wait a little for supply to ramp up and prices to settle down.

Solved Pros and Cons of Static IP?

Just an update, the VOIP lag issue seems to have 'resolved' itself after I brought it up with the ISP's tech support people. There's the occasional stutter but nothing as bad as when I initially got my service activated. Looks like I'll hold off on the Static IP for now until I really need it...

    WBE660S / 802.11BE / AP 10GE uplink

There are also Wifi 7 APs from the usual suspects: Ruckus, TP-Link's Omada series and Engenius, all limited to 10G ports too. https://www.ruckusnetworks.com/products/wireless-access-points/r770/ https://www.tp-link.com/us/business-networking/omada-sdn-access-point/omada-eap770/...

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

I set the RSSI to handoff at -57dBm instead of -67dBm and that seemed to do the trick for now. Hopefully that value will still work when the weather improves.

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

Have a bit of a strange issue with the RT-BE96U AiMesh node. There's a low pressure system passing through the area so have been getting plenty of rain and cloudy weather these past few days. I haven't been able to connect to the 5Ghz band (connection failure indicated) on my devices and keep...

Solved Pros and Cons of Static IP?

Thanks for the tip and will try it out over the week.

Solved Pros and Cons of Static IP?

Thanks for this. I'm more worried about my kids getting DoS-ed as they're ones doing the gaming. I've enabled the whole AiProtection suite, DoS prevention and firewall features on my Asus router. And have Antivirus software on all my devices. Hope this'll be enough.

Solved Pros and Cons of Static IP?

Thanks for this and unfortunately the new ISP doesn't support IPv6 and is on CGNAT, so they're providing Static IPs (for a fee) on request to 'fix' the CGNAT issue.

Solved Pros and Cons of Static IP?

Thanks for that, I was wondering if using Static IP with a VPN would be more secure than without? Assuming that the network configuration would be similar to having a Dynamic IP?

Solved Pros and Cons of Static IP?

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone could share the pros and cons of getting a static IP address from your ISP? My new ISP is on CGNAT so IP addresses are private. I've been experiencing lag whenever I use VOIP calls on WhatsApp, GoogleMeets, MSTeams etc vs my old ISP which uses regular non-CGNAT...

    GT-BE98 WIFI 7

Is your plan XGS-PON? I think ever since the industry introduced this iteration of Passive Optical Networking, 10Gbe fiber broadband prices have been steadily coming down. The new XGS-PON plan I recently signed with is $40 per month compared to my previous 10G Active Ethernet plan which went for...

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

Nope, I'm already quite satisfied with the wired results I posted on Monday. 8.3 GBps u/l and d/l on the XGS-PON plan and 9.3Gbps u/l - 9.1Gbps d/l on the 10G Active Ethernet plan after reverting to the initial firmware release. Barely 6-7% CPU utilisation on each of the four cores. All with...

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

So reverting both the main router and AiMesh node to the initial firmware release version 3.0.0.6.102_31763 fixed all the Wifi range and speed issues even behind closed doors to the other rooms in the house. Speeds on the 5Ghz band are back to the aforementioned 1800Mbps directly in front of...

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

Some issues with Wifi speeds after the firmware update. I used to be able to get Ookla tested speeds of up to 1800 Mbps standing in front of the router with the 5Ghz band, that has now been roughly halved to 900 Mbps-ish. Wifi range on the 5Ghz band seems to be now affected by closed doors, so...
