RT-AX88U - looking for good AiMesh options

I have almost exactly the same situation. Also incidentally in the UK. Our garden Ring camera works nicely when using an XT8 as an AiMesh node. Like you it was initially wireless, but is now cabled for the back haul. Both options worked well. Right now there is a used one for £120 buy it now...

    386.1 Wifi time scheduling

It is working as well as it ever did for me on my RT-AX88U. Although it was broken in b4b, it was back to normal in beta5 and still works in 386.1. I haven't sniffed the wire but from watching the pattern it seems to block DNS requests rather than cutting all active traffic flows when the...

AC87u with Merlin -> what next

If I read that correctly it looks like there's going to be an AX86U in the post on its way to you soon. You'll need the 386.1_beta FW, unless we see a full Merlin 386 release before your purchase arrives. Because 386 is the earliest Merlin FW for that unit. Six years of hardware development is...

AC87u with Merlin -> what next

I was also running the AC87U until last summer. With Merlin FW. Also on BT avg ~67Mbps. But the AC87U would not support the BT TV box 4K TV stream. It kept tearing the picture and generally suffering stutters and dropouts. Which was made worse by the pair of Xboxes that are also running most...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Our home IOT collection has pushed our current content to 48 DHCP clients. Looks Like it'll hit 64 before too long at the rate we are adding lightbulbs, mains switches and other gadgets. Can you run a second DHCP server on AIMESH nodes to increase the overall capacity? How large is the table...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

I think it depends upon your Asus model and which FW you are migrating from. In short YMMV. With my standalone AX88U the 2.4Ghz WiFi is immensly improved both on stability and range after coming from 384.19 to 386.1_beta5. For example, my two furthest Ring cameras both now report a strong...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Have you tried using a Parental Control timer for that MAC? From watching the behaviour of the systems affected here it appears that this prevents the camera accessing DNS requests. It wouldn't break an existing link, but once set to have no access time a re-boot of the camera should switch...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

AX88u after 25hrs of stable B5 use: Per-IP (XBox in this case) parental control timers are now working again (broken in B4b). IPv6 is rock stable again (broken in B4b) Built in DDNS appears to have an issue with deciding when to send updates: DDNS is set to: Use WWW.DNSOMATIC.COM...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

I just tried in desktop mode, in both landscape and portrait. Also in mobile mode in both orientations. I'm using iPadOS 14.3 as well. I simply can't make it fail.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

I can't reproduce this with my iPad Air 2 or IPad Pro 11 (2020) Have you accidentally loaded it in desktop mode?

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Using an AX88U here: Two days ago I dirty upgraded from 384.19 to b4b and saw a great improvement in both 2.4G WiFi range and stability. 5G WiFi remains the same as far as I can see. For 10 hours all was generally good, but two things stood out: Timing of parental controls to a pair of Xbox...

Apparant bug in 378.55 VPN PPTP settings - is anyone else seeing this?

I'm quite new to Asus routers (I moved from Draytek kit at the start of this year) I haven't run many versions of Merlin firmware in that time and I hadn't seen it myself until yesterday when I tried to add a new user. Luckily having seen it before should make it easier to fix again. Good luck...

Apparant bug in 378.55 VPN PPTP settings - is anyone else seeing this?

Thanks. Now how/where do I raise a bug report? Does RMerlin watch all the forum messages?

Apparant bug in 378.55 VPN PPTP settings - is anyone else seeing this?

Does anyone else see the following behaviours in 378.55? btw I'm using a AC87U if that makes any difference... Go into the VPN->PPTP Server settings page Create a set of users and passwords. At least two of them. Turn on the VPN PPTP server if it wasn't already on. Apply the changes. Wait for...
