    [ 386.4 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Adaptive QOS doesn't slow down the LAN to LAN transfers, but traditional and Cake does. The problem with adaptive QOS is that I don't want to use sign up with TrendMicro. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that the ax86u has a dedicated "gaming port" assigned to LAN port 1?

    [ 386.4 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

I thought HW acceleration affected LAN to WAN, not LAN to LAN. But this slowdown does not happen to the lower model AX68U, so as I see it there is something specific to the AX86U that doing this

    [ 386.4 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Just loaded this RT-AX86U_386.4_alpha2-ga85421da82 and clean config on the ax86u, Cake QOS enabled still throttles LAN transfers from my wireless laptop to my NAS.

    [ 386.4 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Does anyone else use for example a NAS on their LAN and also use QOS on their AX86U? I've tried several FWs and they all lower LAN transfers from ~100MBs down to around ~75MBs whenever I enable Cake. I know this issue is not present on the lower model AX68U.

    Release RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_45898 (2021-10-07)

Yes, full reset configure from scratch. My ISP is on UL 5Mbs, DL 50Mbs. QOS does help with buffer-bloat.

    Release RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_45898 (2021-10-07)

Enabling QOS still throttles LAN to LAN throughput with this FW on the AX86U. Transferring files from my wireless connected laptop to my Ethernet connected NAS drops from 110MBs to around 60MBs when I enable QOS(Traditional, BW Limiter or GeForce Now).

    Is my AC86U toast?

I know this thread is old, but I wonder how many rt-ac86u has died with the same symptom, ie only LAN4 led light up. My unit just died out of warranty and its the same Buck converter MT3125 that's burnt up. This class component is usually expected to last much much longer than just a few years...

    Firmware Update for AX86U (8-31-2021)

I'm not sure hardware acceleration is needed for LAN traffic. but none the less this does not affect the rt-ax68u I had, so it must be something else.

    Firmware Update for AX86U (8-31-2021)

Thought i would post in this thread, as the issue I experience occurs with this latest release as well. I get slow upload speeds within my LAN from my computer(Wifi) to my NAS(wired) if I enable Traditional QOS. There is another thread where people report experiencing slow upload speeds albeit...

    Asus AX/AXE Slow Upload Speeds

I recently bought a ax86u after my ac86u up and died right after the 2yr warranty expired. I get slow upload speeds within my LAN from my computer(Wifi) to my NAS(wired) if I enable Traditional QOS. I am not sure if its the same root cause but I thought I'd add to the data points, hoping it...

Upgrading RT-AC66U to either RT-AX68U or RT-AX86U, worth it?

As my RT-AC86U just died 2+ years in, I feel what tech9 is saying. It seems that the RT-AC86U may have a poor life cycle based on my research into the failure I observed, with several reports of the same symptom.

    [384.18_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

I've had this happen a few times, but it appears to occur when I change some config and save(without reboot) then some random time later the GUI crashes. I haven't narrowed down what setting(s), but I have avoided any crash so far by rebooting after I make a number of changes that I am happy with.

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

Prices vary by region i suppose, here in the USA the AC86u is quiet a bit cheaper. I keep saying VPN performance/feature as the target matrix but I guess the AX92U is a overall newer architecture. Anyways its a moot point if it doesn't support RMerlin in my book. hope it works for you though

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

In regards to VPN, it looks like the same processor so similar speed, cost more, and doesn't look like RMerlin has plans to support it at this time. I don't get it

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

Seems as if the RT-AC86U is still the best bang for your buck in regards to VPN performance edit. I guess since we are discussing this alpha, I should report that I occasionally lose access to the router web interface (internet access still works though) on my AC86U and have to manually restart...

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

I wonder if @RMerlin SMB usb file transfer enhancement also boosts this RT-AX58U?, Does anyone know how well the AX58U do at VPN throughput too?

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.15 (and 384.13_4) are now available

Yes, for the most part everything else I tired works fine with the setting I mentioned even for the Note9. What are you chromecasting to?, the Google Home speakers cuts out during streaming music. and if I immediately try to resume the stream it tells me there is "no wifi" , but will be ok a...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.15 (and 384.13_4) are now available

I see we are in the same boat with the 86u. just like you my note 9 had issues with 384.14 builds but I also had streaming issues with google home. I did try 384.13 and 384.15 beta and the note 9 seems ok with fixed channels with mimo and beamforming off, but my google home was still telling me...

    Wireless not working after awhile

I also have issue with google streaming devices, chromecast, android tv and chromecast etc. I can only use the latest official 32799 with smart connect disabled for a stable connection. I tried Rmerlin's previous 384.8 beta 1, which is much better for QOS and SMB performance, but I notice...

[384.8_Alpha - builds] Testing all variants.

The router is behind a at&t modem/router DMZ. would the 86u router config cause packet loss, can I detect what causes it? I flashed back and forth between 32799 and alpha 3, five times. The dropouts with google streaming don't happen with 32799. If my issue is setup related I guess it would be...
