    RT-AX88U snmpd - mini Guide

Thanks for this. I'm just configuring a new Asus RT-AC86U and also was looking for SNMP. Now I see I have an option to use it moving forward. John

    Wireless Config reset to default?

Greetings, Over the last week or so, I've noticed the 5 GHz wireless signal "disappear" for a while (maybe 15 minutes) then come back. 2.4 GHz has been fine. This on my main router, an RT-AC68P running 380.69_2. Today, in preparation for upgrading my RT-AC68P to 384.3 I noticed that both...

    SIEM syslog analysis

That looks like a great start -- thanks!

    SIEM syslog analysis

FYI -- getting to something like they discuss in this article is my goal: https://danielmiessler.com/blog/monitoring-ssh-bruteforce-attempts-using-splunk/

    SIEM syslog analysis

Thanks for the pointer -- I was actually thinking of something like a lightweight Splunk -- I didn't realize they still had a free option. http://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/7.0.2/Admin/MoreaboutSplunkFree

    SIEM syslog analysis

Thanks for the pointer to SkyNet. It looks to be a nice enhancement to the firewall, but I didn't see anything about log analysis when I read the info on GitHub.

    SIEM syslog analysis

Greetings, As is expected, if I log dropped connections, I see lots of them. Any suggestions for a simple, free SIEM/log analyzer? Ideally something that would summarize thing and show, for example, "200 SSH attempts from IP address, a.b.c.d in China... or something like that. Thanks, John...

    Getting SNMP data with Telegraf

It's pretty standard MIB II stuff. I use a different tool to pull SNMP data, and they had a template for "router" that got most things. For other bits, I just used SNMPwalk from the Linux command line and looked for the info I wanted. I use good, old MRTG. https://oss.oetiker.ch/mrtg/

VMWare Fusion - Asus not assigning IP Address to Guest Machine

Just as a data point, I run VMware Fusion on my MacBook Pro, as well as VMware ESXi on an Intel server. I get IP addresses assigned to both Windows 10 and CentOS and Ubuntu Linux guest VMs without issue. On Fusion, my Windows 10 VM is set to Bridged auto-detect, which gets a DHCP assigned...

    Traffic Monitor - 3 colors?

I think you are correct. Not sure why I didn't see that. Thanks!

    Traffic Monitor - 3 colors?

With Asus-Merlin 380.68 on an RT-AC68P I notice 3 colors instead of 2 on the traffic monitor real-time page. One is orange (inbound) and two versions of blue are outbound. Is this showing wired/wireless outbound separation, or something else? I would have assumed that traffic was combined...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.63_2 is now available

All good here. I'd been running Beta 2 since Tuesday and updated to the release version this morning. RT-AC68P - Pretty standard configuration - Adaptive QoS - Traffic Statistics ON - Both 2.4 and 5.0 GHz radios - I do use SNMP - I have 15 DHCP reservations/manual assignments - 1 2 GB USB...

    Development musings

I'd suggest re-opening the issues section on GitHub. Open issues and tag them as "help wanted." I've seen this work in some of the GitHub projects I follow. You can force a "form" to be used when issues are opened. The form can be as simple as a message that "The GitHub issues page is to...

    SNMP configuration

If you are putting these settings into Cacti under SNMPv3, it won't work. You'll need to find a way to get these into the SNMPv1 or v2 settings area, and make sure v3 settings area is blank. [I'd check on a machine with Cacti, but I had a hardware failure on that server on Friday...]

    Traffic Monitoring on VPN Tunnels?

I use SNMP from a remote machine and graph the data with MRTG.

    SNMP configuration

For my SNMP configuration I have: SNMP Get Community: readpw SNMP Set Community: writepw SNMPv3 Authentication Type: NONE SNMPv3 Authentication Password: <blank> SNMPv3 Privacy Type: NONE SNMPv3 Privacy Password: <blank> You should be able to put the Get and Set community strings into Cacti...

    RT-N66U trouble with newer firmware

I upgraded my RT-N66R from 378.55 to 380.57 12 days ago. I support between 18-22 devices, with a mix of wired TiVo's, a Canon MF printer, Macintosh and Windows computers, along with wireless cameras, Macintosh laptops, web cameras, iPhones, iPad and Nexus 7 Android tablets (some at 2.4 GHz, some...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.50 Beta 2 is out

I've been running a mix of Beta 1 and Beta 2 since January 31st on an RT-N66. All seems good. Uptime and wireless signal has been solid. Performance has been tested good on 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and across to the wired network using iperf. In terms of features, I've tried with and without...
