VLAN How To: Segmenting a small LAN

Cox, I think I´ve found a better solution: LRT224: VLAN 1 192.168.1.1/24 (management interface) untagged VLAN 99 192.168.99.1/30 (transit) tagged SG300: VLAN 1 192.168.1.254/24 VLAN 99 192.168.99.2/30 Trunkport VLAN 1 untagged, VLAN 99 tagged Works flawlessly. Now VLAN 1 clients on the SG300...

    pfSense - Netgate RCE-V 2440 thread

I guess some of the add-on packages can be tricky, but honestly the basic/general setup seems straightforward and the web GUI interface looks very nice to me, especially the new 2.3 (RC) version. I find Mark Furneaux´s YouTube videos an excellent introduction to pfSense for new users.

    Two subnets...

[ Yes, I was very much inspired by Coxhaus´ thread about setting up a guest VLAN on a layer 3 switch. Originally I had configured separate private and guest VLANs on my SG300 switch in layer 2 mode. The benefit of Coxhaus´ implementation is to let the L3 switch do the inter-VLAN routing and...

    Two subnets...

Why? I´ve already bought the hardware, set it up according to the diagram and tested it. I´ll put the network in production when I move into a new apartment in the beginning of June. One thing I´m considering is to change the Linksys LRT224 router with pfSense running in a Mini-ITX pc. 6 months...

VLAN How To: Segmenting a small LAN

Cox, I changed my configuration today using a /30 transit between the SG300 L3 switch and the LRT224 router. The SG300 is set up with a default route pointing to the router IP address (192.168.99.1) and the router has static routes to all the subnets on the the SG300 pointing to the transit...

    Need solid NTFS, DLNA, BitTorrent

I´m looking at the ZOTAC ZBOX Mini PCs, but the specifications don´t list the brand/model of the NICs. PS! Found M350 Gigabyte-H170N i5 Skylake with dual Intel LAN ports. Looks interesting.
