[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.17 (and 384.13_8) are now available

You mean the router's uptime in seconds? You can use the proc filesystem: cat /proc/uptime This file contains two numbers: the uptime of the system (seconds), and the amount of time spent in idle process (seconds).

amtm amtm - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu

What's the point of backing router filesystem every day? We don't change our configurations daily, nor do we add any extra script/add-ons on it on a daily basis. Also if you're tinkering with the firmware and making changes to the core system, it's best to always configure it from scratch...

[beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.17 beta is out

I honestly don't think zipping or no zipping a firmware file will impact anything on its functionality except just compressing its file size for uploading and downloading.

[beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.17 beta is out

Just one request which has nothing to do with Asuswrt but with general forum etiquette. If possible instead of simply mentioning the user's name kindly quote the relevant post when you reply because a third person reading your replies will have to go back all the previous replies in the thread...

amtm amtm - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu

Well then there's no point for the script anyway, If it needs dependancies from some major changes in the firmware, the functionality can be baked directly in it as well. No offense to your idea, it's really nice and I like it as well but I'm just pointing out what's possible and what's not...

amtm amtm - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu

Still not possible, even if you store the variables on a separate USB etc, SSH access and custom scripts will be disabled on fresh install so script won't be able to do anything.
  7. Asad Ali

amtm amtm - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu

Not possible. There's no SSH access on fresh firmware and you can't store/feed the variables to it live while the firmware is refreshing.

    Happy birthday to us

Awesome, thank you again for a detailed answer. Hopefully I won't bug you again anytime soon. (No promises though hehe)

    Happy birthday to us

I'm back lol (I hope it's the last time) Between you and Asus's engineers, who made the first contact? Did they approach you directly? Or you tried to reach out to them first. And when was the first time you started talking with them?

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

P7zip. It's CLI for the famous 7zip application.

    Happy birthday to us

I have two more questions which just popped up in my mind lol. What do you think is the reason behind Asus closing down thier code day by day? Illegal forks of Asuswrt running on non Asus devices? And do you still get test devices from them whenever they launch a new product?

amcfwm - AsusWRT-Merlin Custom Firmware Manager

That's exactly my point if a person needs instructions just to set up a simple build environment, he shouldn't even attempt firmware compilation in the first place. But anyways my post was not specifically for you or anyone in this thread, it was for everyone including me, we should treat the...

amcfwm - AsusWRT-Merlin Custom Firmware Manager

"Rant mode on" Honestly, guys, you need to chill out and let Adamm breath, you don't like how the script works or behaves then you're free to make your own but don't expect him to offer support and user-defined customization or quality assurances for something which is given to the public for...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 (and 384.13_6) are now available

He can backport many fixes/things into the existing GPL code base so skipping the entire GPL is not really necessary. But in any case nothing can be done till we have the GPL public.

amcfwm - AsusWRT-Merlin Custom Firmware Manager

That depends on how skilled you are, if you have no prior experience with C and ASUSWRT code base then you shouldn't even attempt it.

    Happy birthday to us

Really?? Now I have one more question if I may ask? Whats your educational background?

amcfwm - AsusWRT-Merlin Custom Firmware Manager

One question: Does it show the progress bar or all the scrolling lines while its compiling the firmware? Edit: As per the above posts it seems it doesn't but it does save the build log in a separate file so it's close enough.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 (and 384.13_6) are now available

It's kind of off topic but infrastructure (talking strictly as per the context of the discussion here because if you use 10Mbps NICs you'll obviously won't get 100Mbps out of it) has nothing to do with your speeds, it's all set directly on the switch level in your ISP’s NOC. You can have 100Mbps...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 (and 384.13_6) are now available

That's part of Trend Micro engine.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 (and 384.13_6) are now available

I agree with your point but that's Asus's doing and Eric dont touch Trend Micro stuff because its all closed source. Though changing the text/tooltip on that page is still possible I believe.
