[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 Beta is now available

Hi, here Beta3 running fine on my AX88 for almost 48 hours already. I had beta1 running solid before for 24 days. My scenario is ftth, PPPOE for wan, and I make use of Wifi, diversion, ddns, ovpn, samba, minidlna, transmission, iptv (Movistar) and a secondary rp-ac68u cabled access point with...

HELP RT-AX88U no wifi signal after power cycle

Right, I confused mins and secs, however I'd make a test, since most likely it is not the same a switched off unit than a unit that simply is connected and switched on to a non powered line. In the later case it may very well be that the *unpowered* line allows for the router circuits to fully...

HELP RT-AX88U no wifi signal after power cycle

Yes. You are right that this scenario (a <10 sec power outage and not at home) can cause a problem.

HELP RT-AX88U no wifi signal after power cycle

I guess it is a matter of fully discharging the circiuts (capacitors and so on). I would not bring it to service center just for that. as long as you know what to do after powering it off, it is just a minor annoyance.

HELP RT-AX88U no wifi signal after power cycle

Sorry I did not see this post yesterday, so I could have helped you. My ax88 has exactly the same problem for which I posted the same solution in a post back in may. For if it may help you, you can avoid the 10 minutes wait just by unplugging the router and pressing the power on button 3-4 times...

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 Beta is now available

Thanks a lot Eric for all your efforts to keep this firmware as in sync as possible with the latest official code. Count on my feedback for that separate build also, since I am in that boat also (not using QoS).

    [Asus RT-AX88U] Experiences & Discussion

Hi. I also experienced some wifi unstabilities and clients unable to connect/authenticate, and in a given instance even a router reboot with my RT-AX88. Always with latest versions of Merlin, but I am sure it is not merlin related but probably broadcom's since the common thing that happens...

    Repeater - low speed

Hi, note that real world transfer speed is usually already half of the wifi bandwith you are connecting to, so if again you are using a router in the middle as a repeater then it would be 1600/2/2 which would be around 400mbps to be expected - assuming the client-repeter speed is also 1600. By...

Is using a USB stick a bad idea?

I am sorry to tell there is no universal secret to share. I remember playing with samba config file 2 years ago to improve treansfer performance, and it did improve a bit, but later on we saw on this forums that the effect was not the same for all router / client combination. Now I am running...

Is using a USB stick a bad idea?

Not really much I suspect, but being a router that is not really focused on providing shared disk access, you may want to experiment with several filesystems and do some testing regarding performance and how permissions do work. Some things must be done by directly managing smb.conf file through...

Is using a USB stick a bad idea?

That is the point that I think is a misconception and my experience proves it. It may be less reliable than a separate NAS, it may be more tricky to configure or test, it may require a router with enough resources and / or certain levels of firmware, but using the router's disk sharing...

Is using a USB stick a bad idea?

You are right, however when I had the 3200 doing the same function (only 256MB) it did the same function quite well either.. but I am not going to pretend a real NAS is no better... just that properly configured one of these routers can also provide a satisfactory experience for file/media...

Is using a USB stick a bad idea?

Guys, I have been using the router as a NAS for 4 years already.. first a RT-AC3200 and since 6 months ago a RT-AX88U, and have not had real problems. Using a 32GB stick for entware, logging and so on, and a USB3 RAID1 4TB box (self powered) for disk services (samba and minidlna). Always with...

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.14 Beta is now available

Well, this is my report for this beta : ... 6 days for beta1 going on my rt-ax88 and all is fine.. I still can see some 'FPM Pool1 Invalid token xxx freed' messages in the log, but these are the same as in previous firmwares and already discussed in other posts. LED on/off functionality works...

    [Asus RT-AX88U] Experiences & Discussion

In any case, to anyone buying a router from abroad, be aware not only of the risk of losing the warranty (or the ability to easily execute it), but also of the fact that different regions do have different wifi normative and available channels/power requirements, and it is quite difficult (in...

kernel: FPM Pool 1: invalid token 0x21950000 freed

Hi, I have nailed these errors down a bit. In my router these tend to appear when there is high speed wifi data transfer going through the router (either 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz). They do not appear when there is high speed data transfer to a cabled device or to the router itself from the WAN. Normally...
