    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.52 is available

Recently bought a rt-ac87u. Very happy with its performance so far except for the bugs. I am currently using 378.52_2 . When I go to Tools, it tells me I am using CTF Only as Hardware Accelerator. Shouldnt it be CTF + FA ? I dont have any QoS settings on or per IP monitoring. Also, is there an...

    RT-AC87U tweaks and tips?

I keep reading about problems on 5ghz. So I would expect disconnections and radio dying. Not sure if those will be fixed in a future firmware or even fixable at all. Thats why I haven't bought it yet.

    RT-AC87U 5ghz NEED HELP!

Man.. I wanna buy this router but with all the 5ghz issues people seem to be having, I am afraid to. It appears that Asus are unable to fix those things.

    Wireless bridge or PCE-AC68?

From Asus website "RT-AC87U also has a separate dual-core processor that's dedicated solely to 5 GHz 4x4 Wi-Fi related tasks". Thats what I was talking about. No idea if it makes a difference. Yep, I am aware of that when it comes to MU-MIMO. I am always hoping something will come up soon. How...

    Wireless bridge or PCE-AC68?

Is the AC87U actually worth it? I know its 4x4 and no devices can use it yet. However, will MU-MIMO help a lot eventually? (Once its enabled). I want something futureproof, but wireless adapters technology seems to fall way behind routers atm. Like I said, no budget, but I want something rock...

    Wireless bridge or PCE-AC68?

No budget. Thanks for your recommendations. The AC87U used to be horribly unstable. Has it been fixed yet?

    Wireless bridge or PCE-AC68?

My wireless adapter is no longer working so I have the choice between running a wireless bridge or a PCE-AC68. All I care about are games, mostly. I dont use a lot of bandwidth, however I want the best stable possible thing out there. I have 2 choices, use my current N66u as bridge and buy a...

Router dead kids rioting wife cussing

I remember a while ago that people suggested the R7000 over AC68U due to the faster processor, more wireless coverage... What changed? Its also cheaper.

    R7000/AC68U/R7500/R8000/AC87U for wireless coverage/VPN speed? (replacing n66u)

Anyone? Looking for an upgrade over the RT-N66u wireless, especially on N 2.4ghz. 5ghz AC must be great too Fast processor for VPN connections. 100Mbps Reliable router, meaning reliable firmware too. I might use tomato, DD-WRT or RMerlin depending what router people recommend me Thanks.

    R7000/AC68U/R7500/R8000/AC87U for wireless coverage/VPN speed? (replacing n66u)

I am looking for a new router to replace my RT-N66u. Currently, most of my devices are N devices except for 2 which are 867 MBps AC. A few things; - Better range than my N66u on 2.4ghz for N devices. Got thick walls where I live. - Fast processor for VPN connection. 100 Mbps. - Good and...

    Replacing my n66u

My issue got fixed (shibby firmware is causing it, RMerlin and stock are fine), I am still looking to upgrade my router and give this one to a family member. Any idea? Did the R8000, R7500 or AC87U firmware mature a bit? Or am I better with the R7000 or AC68U? No idea if I will choose tomato...

    Replacing my n66u

Due to this problem right here http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showthread.php?t=20649 I may have to replace my n66u if I do not have a solution to fix it. I am wondering what is the fastest reliable router out there. I heard the R8000 and AC87U have a lot of problems, so I thought about...

    n66u packet loss

So I recently noticed packet loss on my Asus n66u. I decided to test my equipment and using winmtr for 5000 packets at 1 second internet gave me 2% packet loss on wired, 0.2% packet loss on wireless (2.4ghz, i blame the 30 APs) and 0% on 5ghz. So wired is clearly a problem. However, here is...

    802.11ac desktop adapter

Those are actually fine, because they come preinstalled (I am talking the wires that goes from the adapter to the bracket). So I should not have to touch them. The problem I have with my current mpcie combo ii is a lack of space when it comes to plugging it in the back of the case. Its a lack of...

    802.11ac desktop adapter

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833106192 What about this? Could I also switch the mPCIe adapter on it? Then there would be some problems with drivers I am guessing? Also, since it only allowed 2 antennas I am guessing I wont be able to get anything faster.

    802.11ac desktop adapter

For some reasons, one of my antenna on the mPCIe combo card on the Asus Maximus VI Formula keeps breaking. I am looking for a PCI Express desktop adapter to deal with this problem. Sure, I can just buy some antennas and fix it, but I know that it will happen again. I want good antennas and...

    Antenna?

Thanks for the link, I will definitely try it out. :) Unfortunately, I can't drill anything here. I can't run a long cable because I don't trust some people, as they enjoy to do bad things so I don't know what they are gonna do with the cable... or even trip over it, lol.

    Antenna?

Hi, Thanks for your reply. A repeater could be useful, but it would still be relatively close to my router... As in, my room is quite small (~3 meters of open space). Though it can help a bit, I don't think I will be able to get a signal unless it has more range than the RT-N66u.

    Antenna?

Hi! I am wondering what would be the best omni-directional antenna for the RT-N66U. The reason I ask this is because I live in a dorm with concrete walls, so I do not get any signal in the "living room" from my room, but it is quite close though, I do get a weak signal around 3 meters away...
