    ASUS RT-AC5300

My standard for excitement in routers has gone way down over the years. I'm most excited when I can count on my router to actually work well with the firewall and other security features turned on without doing things like choking for 60 seconds (each) on successive (not simultaneous) DHCP...

Nighthawk X8- R8500 Tri Band Quad Stream WiFi Router

I see there's more than a few on here that came from an ASUS RT-AC3200. I've got a fairly large home network and have been burned frequently with stability issues on the 3200, which has been my best experience with ASUS yet. As far as home wireless routers go, I've been burned by all the big...

Which Router to upgrade to from RT-AC66U

Latest routers from ASUS (88, 3100, 5300) claim to cover more square feet than their predecessors--up to 5000 sq ft. That *may* still cover your entire home, assuming it's 2-story and you put the router on the 2nd floor. A 6000 sq ft sprawling ranch, however, is going to require an additional...

Work Around/FIX for Wireless Bridge losing connection every 24hrs

I don't currently have my 68U hooked up, but I think the selections (other than "Smart" Connect) are identical to the 3200's. Is it possible to change your channel bandwidth to Auto (20/40/80) and not just 80? If it is, try that first. I'm assuming there's a software bug causing your issue, and...

    Per ip rate limit

Ah ok, yes not using the wifi does take a load off the main cpu. I know these separate wifi chips are supposed to handle everything but feeding the drivers does put some strain on the main cpu. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk

So many ASUS routers, so little time .....

I've been running with Smart Connect off as well. 28 devices, mix of Android tablets, iPads, Xbox 360, Xbox One (wired), PS4, WiiU, Wii, 3DS (slow wifi), 4 Dual band AC laptops, Zigbee/Zwave hub, Garage door controller, OnHub as access point, WN3500R repeater (for the OnHub access point), and...

SOLVED [RT-AC3200] Worried about Router Reboots Please Help

Depends on what is running, it might be normal for it not to clear itself. Disk drivers usually require RAM buffers for performance. Yes, I agree with @L&LD : if you're not hitting 100% (and you aren't even close) you have nothing to worry about. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk

The optimal way to setup ASUS AC68U and UP with Charter Internet

Which firmware revision are you running on? What firmware revision was running the last time you saw the issue? Also, when you say "wiping the router and starting from scratch" do you mean you did a Factory reset, then manually configured all settings? How many clients in all do you have on...

ASUS AC 68U - Connecting as wireless only; no modem present, possible?

So do you want to run local network with no WAN? Or is your actual goal to tether?

    Per ip rate limit

You can successfully service 100 simultaneous clients on an AC68U?? I had trouble with 30 (CPU overload) last time I checked about 6 mos ago.

    [Official] Ai Protection

I have posted previously that I had problems with the Infected Device option (false positive and AFAIK no way to tell it to exclude devices from the protection), but that was some time ago so I thought I'd give it another whirl. So far, everything works well.

Work Around/FIX for Wireless Bridge losing connection every 24hrs

Please post the wireless settings for the radio (2.4GHz or 5GHz) that you are connecting to via the bridge. I am particularly interested in the channel selection (auto or fixed) as well as the settings on the Advanced tab. Also, is the SSID you are connecting to unique (no other instances of...

Work Around/FIX for Wireless Bridge losing connection every 24hrs

@R1-Limited : Stating the latest version you've tested with at the top of the thread will be helpful to everyone who reads it (you know, in case you don't make it back on here when an update occurs).

    2x rt-ac66u DHCP problem

Still looking good 2+ days in.

So many ASUS routers, so little time .....

I wouldn't go lower than a 68P. The 800MHz clock rate on the 68U will be showing its age soon, so with a 25% faster clock at 1GHz, it's likely to age better. Just my 2 cents because it sounds like you keep your routers around for a while. The 3200 is also a good choice if the price is right...

RMerlin, what kernel is in the 380 release set? Still on 2.6?

SOLVED [RT-AC3200] Worried about Router Reboots Please Help

23% will creep up gradually to 29% and stick there forever, at least for my setup. Your fears are understandable. I've hit this same thing myself (buy new router only to hit the same or a variation of the stability problem I was trying to avoid).

    Asus DDNS: Unauthorized Registration Request

Too bad that factory reset won't fix their security issues. Depending on what you use their ddns for, it could be time to look for a more secure alternative. Definitely do not use a common password between their DDNS and something else that is important to you (good rule anyway).

SOLVED [RT-AC3200] Worried about Router Reboots Please Help

I am thinking that is exactly what you did last night (no wireless edits after reboot). I don't have Samba or external disk on, so I suspect that is where your additional memory use is coming from, as it's a pretty small difference. Unless the number keeps increasing, no worries. BTW, new...
