    RT-AC87R - 5G bandwidth for Apple devices

Wow! Thanks for updating us. My iPhone6 is very happy on 5GHz. I do notice all ac iDevices, but especially the iPhone, will switch to 2.4Ghz when sleeping in a corner. I imagine it's a power saving thing. But mine, for sure, switches pretty rapidly back to 5Ghz when it's used. Of course if you...

    RT-AC87R - 5G bandwidth for Apple devices

One golden rule is the router needs a hard reset when the wifi radio firmware is updated and that happened with 4950 (specifically improving 5Ghz performance).

    RT-AC87R - 5G bandwidth for Apple devices

Yeah, if it's not clear, the AC87 with 4950 and BF off works great too. I have: iPhone 6, iPad Air 2, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini, iPad 2 all using my AC87 Router and AC87 AP and they are all totally happy. As I happens I am using 80Mhz up from CH36 on my router and 80Mhz down...

    RT-AC87R - 5G bandwidth for Apple devices

Sounds like you have 5Ghz BF on. Did you do a full reset when you upgraded to 4950, because the default for this is off? I would, for sure, turn them off anyway. If you didn't do a full reset when you upgraded I would now. Several of us have had very odd gremlins due to dodgy upgrades, even when...

    RT-AC87U_3.0.0.4_378_4950

Nope and nope here. I admit we don't use 2.4Ghz much here and the signal is good throughout with an AC87 router and a 2nd acting as AP, but no problems at all and InSSIDer, for sure shows the same signal strength. 5Ghz working well here with 12 13 days of uptime since I was messing around after...

    AC87U disconnection on 2.4ghz.

Can't answer the specifics about your bridge setup, but 378.4950 is the current, stable firmware available from Asus and a big step up from 4608. There is no "4950 version of RMerlin". The current RMerlin release version is .52, which includes most of the important things in Asus 4950. .53...

    RT-AC87R - 5G bandwidth for Apple devices

Both 5Ghz beamforming options need to be off with current firmware (They are turned off by default anyway). You can leave 2.4Ghz BF on. You don't say which firmware you are on, but you should make sure you are on the latest OFFICIAL firmware 378.4950 (or RMerlin .52), which has significant...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

You don't know who is also reporting issues to Apple. All you can do in this situation is report to both sides and hope one, or other, or both will be proactive and get it fixed. The Apple fixes in 8.3 suggest this works, to some extent at least! Clearly, if the problem is with Apple then Asus'...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

One iPad that stays in the same room most of the time, so rarely has to roam has been connected non-stop to the same 5Ghz radio for 5 days now :). Seriously 4950, with 5Ghz beamforming OFF is close to perfect here.

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

I think it's very user/settings/luck dependent! If all is in a good state already and all goes well maybe you don't. But, in my case there was a 100% guaranteed problem (br0 errors), that was not even fixed by a simple reset (I did LOADS of them). So, like you, I'm all for trying a simple...

    RT-AC87U-50days up time

The CPU on one of my 87Us reports 104C sitting on top of a cabinet doing nothing; No overclocking. It's working fine though! As this isn't even reported in the stock firmware it's hard to say it's faulty. Either there is a lot of over worrying about temps (I have read, but not been able to...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

Normally I'm a great believer in "if it ain't broke.... don't fix it", but 4950 is a great step up from 4608. You obviously were unlucky with resetting your router - I had a similar problem initially. Follow the instructions for resetting NVRAM carefully. It can be worth resetting several...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

I think it's a result of QoS (qdisc = "queuing discipline") but I admit I'm not 100% sure. If it is I'm still not sure why it appears in the log, but it doesn't seem to be a bad thing!

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

Ditto here. Router and AP, both on 4950 have now been up for 10 days. Nothing but NTP updates and occasional "non-work-conserving" messages in the log. 20 devices flawlessly roaming between AP and Router, 2.4 and 5Ghz (5Ghz beamforming still has to be off).

    RT-AC87U_3.0.0.4_378_4950

I'd bet it's not your settings, but a corrupted state after the update. Do a full reset, maybe more than once and in different ways until it's fixed! See here: http://www.snbforums.com/threads/how-to-reset-nvram-on-asus-rt87u-please-help.23835/

Just had another and once again all there is to see is there is no top banner.

Kasperksy Trojan warnings several times a day on this site

Yep, I was worried about that, but I had to zoom out Chrome to fit the whole page on the screen and to make things worse the forum seems to resize them when it imports them (the originals are bigger). Yes, I could have uploaded to Imgur or something but really all you can see on the originals is...

Kasperksy Trojan warnings several times a day on this site

Just got it on 2 pages - one browsing around to try and trigger it and once coming back here to post about it! No obvious bad ads here. I don't know if the bad ad is not being displayed or if it is a "web bug". Edit: looks like the top banner ad is being blocked by Kaspersky or is a web bug.

I understand. Yep, "weeks" isn't very clear is it. Just had a look on this PC and the 1st was on the 2nd of April, but I think I had them earlier on another. I'll let you know if I find anything. I'll also try to give you a screen grab. Of course there are a few ads on a page and I'm not sure...
