[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.63_2 is now available

After 2 1/2 days uptime. Think I can say for sure it was Traffic Analysis that was causing the router to reboot, with nothing in log, in under 24 hours.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.63_2 is now available

Thanks, I'll consider that. 380.63 working well while it's up though!

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.63_2 is now available

Yep, it would surprise me too, but it could just be Traffic Analysis itself. Anyway, let's see what the next 24 hours brings! Next I can try stopping QoS then AiProtection...!

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.63_2 is now available

Thanks for the reply but everything was fully reset when I installed Merlin 2 days ago. The router has been perfectly happy where it is for 18 months prior to the update. I am sure it's not temperature related. Occasionally, in the past, a radio has stopped working, needing a reboot, but I have...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.63_2 is now available

Same here. I updated from Asus firmware to this a couple of days ago. I did use Merlin about a year ago, I switched back to Asus when they updated radio firmware and have only just got around to switching back. Anyway, the Asus firmware never "crashed", neither, from memory did the old Merlin...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.62_1 is now available

To futher elaborate on what RMerlin has said, the so galled "Guest Network" in AP Mode, is totally different from a Guest Network on a router. It really should be described differently by Asus. In AP Mode a so called Guest network is really just an alternate SSID/Password for the main network...

    Guest Network and AP Mode

Personally I don't expect this ever to be fixed. I am just having to live with having a guest network from the main router and no guest network from my AP. Obviously this means guests have poorer coverage, but such is life! I'd like guest mode to work properly, of course, but my main beef is...

    [Official] RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9177

The iPad Air 2 does have problems all of its very own. It disconnects and reconnects from 5ghz every 3 mins when sleeping, which cannot be good for battery life. If it settles on 2.4Ghz at any time it will stick and sleep properly, but otherwise....

    [Official] RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9177

Yeah, as I said in my follow up post, there were a few hours of hope and then.... Disappointment! Thanks for trying.

    [Official] RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9177

Nah! It's back doing the same old stuff. I think there must just have been some background tasks using 5Ghz earlier, keeping it alive.

    [Official] RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9177

Very early days, but I think the iPad Air 2's problems with sleeping on 5Ghz have been fixed with IOS9.1. Connection speed no longer seems to drop after a minute and it seems for now to stay connected. I have seen it switch to 2.4Ghz once, but not drop off the network as before. Anyone else confirm?

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56 Beta 2 is out

I too have been wondering this. Is there any way to set DST correctly once and for all where, as in UK and Europe, the change always happens on the last Sunday? By a strict interpretation of the GUI, mostly this should be set to 4th, but sometimes it should be the 5th. But maybe 5th would work?

    Asus AC87u dropping out

If you are not on 9xxx firmware try upgrading. This has fixed all 5ghz radio crashes for me.

    Asus AC87u dropping out

The first Merlin beta using 9177 as the base is now out. You could give that a go. Or just hang on a little longer to see if the final 378.56 fixes things. The good news is the warranty is nice and long and a locking up router is a nice solid fault. I guess they might insist on you taking a...

    Asus AC87u dropping out

I wouldn't resort to a cooler. Unless you are locking your router in an unventilated cupboard this just shouldn't be happening. I have 2 of these that work hard and I have never had the whole router lock up and now, on 9177, the 5Ghz radio never falls over either. I would return it and try...

Sorry RMerlin, I didn't mean to derail the thread!

    Unhappy with the RT-AC87U

Yes, I admire Asus for how hard they have worked on this, I really do. I am sure in their private moments they must be every bit as frustrated with the Quantenna situation and what it has cost them! But hopefully they will appreciate the many, many hours the community have also sunk into trying...

    Unhappy with the RT-AC87U

The trouble is they only have to replace like-for-like under RMA, which doesn't help when it's a design problem. We in Europe could try to use European legislation to get a refund and it might well work, but to save hassle for Asus and the customers, it would be very good customer relations and...

    Unhappy with the RT-AC87U

@ASUS_ASUSWRT It would be very good customer relations if Asus offered a very generous warranty swap of 88u for 87u for those with 5ghz problems. Many 87u users will have never come anywhere near these forums, will not be pushing the hardware very hard and be happy with their purchase. But those...
