    [Official] RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9177

I tried to probe on this earlier: And I got this:

    AC87 5GHz + iOS9 weird behaviour

I agree the crashing of 5Ghz is fixed with 378_9177. But the other, more minor problem, with iPad Air 2 remains - When sleeping it disconnects and reconnects every 3 mins on 5Ghz. Seems exclusively an iPad Air 2 problem though.

    [Official] RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9177

It's just information from part of the Bonjour service. Asus have said they will hide in a future version.

    [Official] RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9177

With respect, you are not helping yourself. The point is that everybody is not having this problem - some are. And a hard reset should get everyone to the same place but it isn't. So we can just shout at Asus to fix it, when it sounds they can't even reproduce it or we can try to work out what...

    [Official] RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9177

Thanks for trying! As you say, this is basic troubleshooting, but I don't remember seeing anyone say they had done it, hence the request. As I said, I'm not doubting the new firmware is causing this problem to crop up for some people. But as this does not occur for many people I'm trying to...

    [Official] RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9177

That's still a symptom, not the root cause. I can click on those to my heart's content.

    [Official] RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9177

Well we still need to understand why we are getting very different results from a hard reset, which should put everyone on an even footing. If it is nothing to do with the environment, or the settings people are using and we have tried multiple PCs and browsers we are left only with some sort of...

    [Official] RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9177

Yes, I realise that. But it is still rare and so very unlikely it is happening on more than one device, even type of device, for one person unless it is something in their setup or configuration. Have you tried the ultra simple setup I mentioned - one wired device only for setup, Asus defaults...

    [Official] RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9177

It seems just too much of a coincidence that 2 different devices owned by one person have the same problem if it were a fault. Surely it must be either a device on the network, something people are configuring during setup, or the way they are connecting to the router. It seems people have...

    [Official] RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9177

It's not as simple as what method you are using to connect to and configure the router? Are you using wifi? 5Ghz?

    RT-AC87U keeps locking up

No, I'm using .9177 now. I'm not really using USB services, although I do have a small USB stick in each and Samba is enabled. But I've got all the protection stuff enabled, parental controls, Adaptive QoS, guest network, not TA or aiCloud.

    RT-AC87U keeps locking up

2 Ac87s here - one AP, one router. Both been up for 8 days now and still working as well as ever. No slowdowns, certainly no crashes, nothing unusual in the log whatsoever. They are pretty heavily used too, with about 20 devices, a real mix of tablets, several generations of phone, a much used...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

    Good luck with that! :)

    [Official] RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9177

As the others have said, this is to be expected. In fact you have 2 things working against you: 5Ghz travels shorter distances than 2.4Ghz, that is to be expected. But also, the antennas radiate their output in a doughnut shape - more power in the horizontal plane, less in the vertical. Trying...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

Keep an eye on http://www.snbforums.com/forums/asuswrt-official.51/. A new thread will surely startup there as soon as there is a new release, beta or general release.

    5Ghz goes down

I'm now convinced this problem is fixed with the 378.9xxx firmware. Been using 9110 and 9177 for 10 days now and no hint of either BOOTP messages flooding the log or the 5Ghz radio crashing.

Yes; on a router and AP.

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

Although I've suggested it to one other who said it did not work, I would still suggest doing 2 full resets (I like the WPS method, but I know others have their own favorite!), one before upgrading and one just after - reset, then upgrade, then reset again, then setup manually from scratch. But...

ASUS RT-AC87 Firmware - Official Releases

Assuming you are doing factory resets here, as I am sure you are, there are really only 2 options here - the resets are not working for some reason or there is some hardware variation that does not like the new firmware. For most this firmware is very stable and very reliable. It is weird that...

    [Official] RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9177

2 Days on this firmware with all beamforming enabled on 2.4 and 5ghz and I have a selection of Intel laptops and iDevices (not Air 2!) that have been connected for 28 to 34 hours, so I think I can say this is working nicely :).
