When I had my AX11000 it's how I had mine operating.

    News QNAP QHora-301W Wi-Fi6 Router

Not yet, though I know it uses the same app as on the qnap Nas that is available to download and configure. So may give it a go this weekend if I get time.

    News QNAP QHora-301W Wi-Fi6 Router

Qnap networking equipment is looking pretty decent and runs quite solid so far when I've been testing their switches etc. I guess the next product they'll need to become a useful all in one ecosystem for smb's is a few models of dedicated AP's. Could make for an interesting proposition as I find...

What router stat should I look for if I want 4 clients to be able to stream 1080p content simultanously?

As the 86u is a pretty decent router, I'd be inclined to suggest getting an extra access point and setting some of the devices to that. Otherwise you're pretty much into tri-band territory which means getting an AX11000 or alternative from another brand which becomes pretty pricey. (Though if...

    VLAN tagging with stock firmware

Looking on this site, pppoe passthrough (ie bridge mode) is just a case of enabling it and then entering the incorrect login details on the fritzbox and the correct ones on your main router. full bridge mode achieved. (Can try it out shortly myself as I have a spare fritzbox 7530 in my drawer in...

Wifi 6 AP with multi-gig wired backbone

Pretty much have to hold out for Ubiquiti, Auba, Cisco etc to release one of the AP's with a 10gb link and Wi-Fi 6. Ubiquiti already do an AC with 10gb, so I presume that Wi-Fi6 with 10gb is not too far round the corner and would likely support 6e. Other option I guess would be Asus RT-ax89x...

Is the grass greener on the ASUS side?

That's exactly my point of my entire posts, different horses for different courses and everyone has their own personal bias. Which they should, why would anyone keep kit that doesn't work for them. Equally though, just because your router doesn't fall over on the wan, doesn't mean it doesn't for...

Is the grass greener on the ASUS side?

I specifically ignored Cisco as the question was for consumer gear. :) (Don't worry, I have my old ccna :D ) Don't worry, the list would be entirely different if I was at work selling to my business customers. That would be juniper, Cisco, Aruba, sonicwall if needed... ubiquiti still makes the...

Is the grass greener on the ASUS side?

Ubiquiti wifi, the range isn't great and the speed isn't blistering either. Range wise, the idea is to buy as many AP's to get the coverage required, for most people, running cat5 around the house isn't feasable, but it's business gear after all. (Note I've just ditched my Asus setup for a Unifi...

AX88U and AX92U in Mesh - Anyway to force 5ghz?

Lol, my lot is ready to go on eBay, ordered Ubiquiti Dream Machine and I have a couple of older AC nano HD access points sat in the garage. Given up on random reboots. The speed is amazing, but I just can't be bothered with having to tweak it or reboot it to keep it running decent anymore...

Is the grass greener on the ASUS side?

I primarily work on the enterprise kit and for a few clients we took over they had meraki and the other SMB kit, switches are fine, the router is stable, but throughput is horrific, wi-fi, stable, performance is pretty weak though. Meraki being the worst thing ever though, cloud based wi-fi...

Is the grass greener on the ASUS side?

My 2 cents is that all consumer wireless routers are frankly a bit crap. Some have great wi-fi, but terrible stability or broken WAN network stacks that fall over for no reason. Some have terrible wi-fi but are great otherwise. Generally a case of just using whatever fits your needs at time of...

    ZenWiFi XT8 2.5G WAN

Ok, does the modem support the 2.5gb though? / what model modem is it, should be able to check the specs very easily to find out if it's the modem causing the lockups or just asus being kinda rubbish as usual :)

    ZenWiFi XT8 2.5G WAN

Does the 10gb port on the ISP modem support 2.5gb? (If it's sfp to copper, then is the sfp adaptor capable of 2.5gb. some are locked to 10gb only) If not, might need a cheapish 10gb switch that supports 2.5gb to do what you need.

AX88U and AX92U in Mesh - Anyway to force 5ghz?

I'm guessing Asus recommend that as most people set their dual band routers to use the lower channels on 5ghz, when set to the lower channels, then the 92u can only ever connect at 866mb link as it's only ac on the lower channels. Kinda makes sense in weird Asus logic. Either way, not something...

AX92u AiMesh nodes going down to 2.4GHz

If it helps, this post has my settings which a lot of other users have since had success with. (Might be worth trying to get a nice stickied threads of known decent working configs at some point)...

AX92u AiMesh nodes going down to 2.4GHz

For 160mhz to be enabled and working, I found that protected management frames had to be set to capable, worked fine after that for me.

[ROG RAPTURE GT-AX11000] Experiences & Discussion

Yes it's just hidden by default, when you enable aimesh, just go back into 5ghz-2 and unhide the ssid again. The only caveat to this is if you use smart connect, aimesh won't allow it to be used for smart connect so it will appear as a separate ssid.

AX92u AiMesh nodes going down to 2.4GHz

Only 2 possibilities for it really. Signal strength isn't high enough between the links. (Signal strength should be anywhere between 40-50db for best results, 50-60db for alright results, expect drops beyond that strength) Other, more likely is the DFS channels being blocked by radar, weather...

    New GT-AX11000 firmware 3.0.0.4.384_9165

Anyone else having issues with upnp and port forwarding locking up after a few days and not mapping any new devices or services? Will do a full factory restore tomorrow and test again, just seems odd that such basic services can be broken on what I wouldn't consider cheap routers.
