    Best choice for access point?

I'd go with Ubiquiti UniFi series, it'll perform way better than Linksys or Asus consumer wi-fi routers or APs.

What Kernel version is used in Asuswrt-Merlin and Is there ACL support?

2.6.36 was released somewhere circa 2010, I have no idea why Asus still use this outdated and potentially insecure kernel. Really would like ext4 and BTRFS support.

Mac users | Tell me about your wireless backups with asusWRT-Merlin (Time Machine, CCC, etc)

Time Machine is my lazy backup copy. I have a 5TB drive attached and it does hourly backups of three Macs. It has been used to recover files several time already and has worked as good as expected. I never trust it 100%, and you should never do. I have a second 5TB drive I plug in at least every...

So, I touched /tmp/netatalk/extmap.conf and all seems ok so far. The conf file was missing.

    Having trouble connecting with AFP

My system.log is constantly: Sep 29 11:49:57 afpd[5577]: read: Connection reset by peer Sep 29 11:49:57 cnid_metad[5645]: Multiple attempts to start CNID db daemon for "/tmp/mnt/seagate3tb" failed, wiping the slate clean... Sep 29 11:49:57 cnid_dbd[5645]: Couldn't open extension maping file...

    Having trouble connecting with AFP

What I have found is a process cnid_dbd is running at 100% on the AC68. Hmm. Problem is, I can't kill the process or else it corrupts the drive.

    Having trouble connecting with AFP

Trying to use Time Machine feature. However, I keep on having connection issues. Time Machine on my Macs can see the backup drive in System Preferences, but is stuck at "Looking for Backup Disk" when trying to create a backup. Tried finder, it shows as an AFP volume in the sidebar, but when...

Huawei EchoLife HG612 to Asus AC68, PPPoA bridging to PPPoE

Got it! Disable "Enable VPN + DHCP Connection" on the AC68 PPPoE settings.

Huawei EchoLife HG612 to Asus AC68, PPPoA bridging to PPPoE

My HG612 has arrived and I am trying to get it to work with my Ac68U. ISP is BT Broadband which only supports PPPoA, so I need to bridge. Anyone know how to get this to work? Even running as a standard PPPoA modem running with a NAT (so double NAT), my AC68 does not connect. I want to get out...

    Google OnHub Announced & Reviewed

It's already outdated, the google logo on the bottom is old. It's also useless for the majority of customers, missing a VDSL/ADSL2+ modem.

    AC68U and 3TB hard drives

Is there any limit to hard drives formatted to HFS+? Asus just state HFS+ is supported in their literature, not specifying a limit. Looking at a 3TB drive for Time Machine backups. Any performance hits using HFS+ over ext4 with the router?

[AC-RT68U] Which modem should I pair with this router?

I', in a similar situation. BT Openreach have stopped doing PPPoE which is highly annoying, my Netgear DG834N cannot function as a modem as it will only do PPPoA which Asus do not support. Trying to bid on some HG612 or ECI B-Focus modems, many are going for over £30 at the moment. Also note...
