Unbound unbound_manager (Manager/Installer utility for unbound - Recursive DNS Server) - General questions / discussion thread 2

That is weird, I have dual stack and for the life of me, I cannot get IPV6 to work at all. I thought unbound manager enabled this by default if it saw ipv6 was enabled.

Can't map drive on AC56U in Windows 10 as router is not visible but already mapped drives still work

You could give this a spin, it is a version of RT-AC56U compiled up to 384.13_10 firmware of RMerlin. Let it be noted that this is not supported by RMerlin, but it does have his lastest commits up until the last 384.13_10. https://easyupload.io/0t37jm

Blocking hardcoded dns to specific dns address

Sounds like a good idea I will take a look at it. Thank you for the suggestion.

Blocking hardcoded dns to specific dns address

Really my goal is just to prevent the device from making phoning home. Would you use network service filter for this? And it wasn't convoluted. It was merely asking if I did as dave suggested and used dns filter to redirect the traffic to a dummy ip, how would I do the same for ipv6 since the...

Blocking hardcoded dns to specific dns address

I haven't ventured to look at network service filter as an option, but can it be used to do the same thing?

Blocking hardcoded dns to specific dns address

    DNS blocking techniques on merlin This is my first thought: iptables -A INPUT -s Device-ip -p tcp –destination-port 53 -j DROP iptables -A INPUT -s device-ip -p udp –destination-port 53 -j DROP

Blocking hardcoded dns to specific dns address

I would still want to block it for ipv6.

Blocking hardcoded dns to specific dns address

That sounds like a good idea.

Blocking hardcoded dns to specific dns address

Okay, so I know how dnsfilter works, but I simply want to only block outbound dns for a specific device. It uses 1.1.1.1 for dns connections. I am attempting to prevent the device from dialing home. What are some user suggestions?

AC68u, RPi pihole and DNS loop?

To answer your question, You can safely ignore these. If there was a problem, you would experience dns/dhcp failures like the original poster was.

Stability of Asuswrt-Merlin vs Stock Firmware

Not to mention , merlins firmware supports dns enforcement through dnsfilter and dns privacy with DoT. Stock has no dns privacy protocol support.

Stability of Asuswrt-Merlin vs Stock Firmware

At times there are major performance issues with stock firmware versus merlin, paticulary with stocks file transfer and media share performance. In my experience, merlin has honed in on improving many of the features that stock firmware neglects.

Stability of Asuswrt-Merlin vs Stock Firmware

Merlin is more stable for me. On stock the pages take forever to load, and the routers offer only limited bare bone router features with very limited vpn features.

    386.1 Alpha?

The plus side, since asus moves at the speed of snail, it ensures you have time to take care of small details you have been wanting to get out of the way. The down side is testing and production is on the back burner. I think the pro's out weight the con's. We patiently await the future of...

    386.1 Alpha?

That depends. Johns fork still supports it by porting over fixes for it and keeping updates similar to merlins. The only down side going that route is johns fork does not support the more advanced trend micro and adaptive qos, but some users would contend that those are not necessarily deal...

I can't wait. :Do_Oo_O:cool:. Keep us in suspense.

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

Here are my symptoms at 2 million domains. I have a swap defined. Lan devices fall off network. Aimesh instantly fall off sync. dhcp failure occurs. I have to say it has to be his use of 2 million domains.
