[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I have looked :), however, what i wanted was a real world outlook on the fixes, weighed in security vs breaking something that is working, for someone having only a high level understanding of the technology. I guess its a lot to ask since at the end its one's own decision. Scratch the question.

From a security standpoint, how secure is v17e5 compared to the later releases of this fork?? Having the best luck with the media server and overall stability (>1 month of uptime!) on this build so really unsure about upgrading.

I haven't noticed any slowdowns in browsing with https... however I do think there could be issues accessing the ui over openvpn. Yet to confirm this since I mistakenly deleted the app from my phone and am too lazy to reconfigure. Will post back when I do.

Hi John! I wanted to enable https for the router's admin page. When I enabled it, while it does show https, the browser also shows a privacy error since the certificate is not trusted. Had a couple of issues: -What does the setting "Save HTTPS certificate**" do? -How do I trust the certificate...

Even i can't recreate it now. Sorry for the bad report John. I think it was my network adapter acting up. I remmber on windows 8 it just used to quit, seems it just hangs on to dear life on 10 which must've been what happened.

Hi again @john9527 I noticed that the GUI becomes really slow to load if I have parental controls switched on (just the normal time limiting one, NOT DNS filtering). The effect is specially noticeable if its at the time that connectivity is to be stopped to a device.

I believe this has got to do more with interference from other wifi networks than a settings issue. Have you used inssider or any other such tool to identify whether you have many wifi networks around on the same or overlapping channels?

@john9527 Any chance this update is responsible for my iphones finally backing up to itunes on one of my wired desktops automatically over wifi or is it some weird councidence or the latest ios update? I dont see this fix mentioned anywhere in their changelog. I had tried everything possible...

I, for one, want this fork to remain all about stability, performance, security and only the most necessary and basic cosmetic improvements. :)

Not sure if this is the same as merlins builds but you can change the devices' names under LAN-> dhcp -> enable manual assignment. The name would be visible in the wireless log and client list. Note: The name can be modified only when assigning an IP to a device on this page.

@john9527 Also have a confusion, does selecting the QoS type radio button and pressing save have any effect on the QoS functionality? i.e. If I have QoS on (since the limiter will not function with qos off), BW details entered and BW limiter selected and press save, will only the BW limiter be...

@john9527 You may have missed this post.. Is it related to any of the bugs you fixed in 17e5? Also, many thanks for implementing the change and fixing bugs so quickly!

Thats what i did for a living for 2 years :D I would also like to mention that i first removed the hard drive, completely deleted the asusware folder, reset to factory default with the disk detached, power cycled and then configured the router, subsequently attaching the disk. Could come in...
