    [384.18_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

The fallback to 192mbit on RT-AX88U is still present in my configuration. Still need to fix it via selecting manual channel on 5GHz network. Then it jumps back up at 866. Has existed since 383.16 and is probably due to the newer GPL merges since then. 383.15 worked fine with the exact same...

    Determine WPA connection type

As a worst case... Make main network only WPA3 for a moment and try all devices if they connect. I only use WPA3. I use a WPA2/WPA3 guest network without intranet access for guests and retro devices that does not support WPA3.

    Determine WPA connection type

On my RT-AX88U WPA3 is defined like this

    Determine WPA connection type

If iPhone has some tools similar like this app you should be able to see it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vrem.wifianalyzer Some examples but I haven't checked the details https://www.netspotapp.com/wifi-analyzer-apps-for-ios.html

    WPA3

Personally I use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vrem.wifianalyzer on Android phones. Marked SAE. Some even show it in wifi settings. Some devices may be harder though... An easy way for devices that don't show it well simply make it wpa3 only for a moment. If it can connect...

    RT-AX88U Setup Help Please

Have you checked the link speed you get between router and phone? 192, 866, something in between or worse? Tried manual channels instead of Auto on 5Ghz?

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 (and 384.13_6) are now available

Other than the issue with auto channel on 5Ghz it works good here (not full speed on wifi on auto but full speed at manual at same channel)

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

Check my post directly above yours. Any manual channel (even the same as the one automatic chooses for you) will get it back to same speed as before I took photos of it and posted link to them

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

Same channel in manual mode as in auto. ONLY manual/auto being the differance... Was like this once in the very first Merlin firmwares for ax88u

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

Updated to beta 3 on my AX88. Same configuration that worked in full speed in 384.15 (866) fallsback to 192-ish on 5Ghz when the channels are handled automatically. Setting it manually and it goes to full speed again. Been like this since first alpha. Anything at all that I can do to help? Needs...

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

My configuration still falls back to 192Mbps when using auto on the channel on 5GHz on beta 2 on my ax88. Using manual and it gets to 866. I assume it's something about Smart-Connect that is triggering this

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

And AX/WIFI 6. One of the few phones it seems despite many more have the same SoC/modem but not licensed for it.

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

Some old Sony laptop I have got WPA3 supported when I changed to Manjaro. Linux Mint didn't. My phone, Oneplus 7 Pro, got it just like already mentioned when I got Android 10. Got a Lenovo Miix 3 laying around with windows 10. Only computer that does not have it. Then the rest is stuff like the...

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

From what I see neither Asus support it on this model or Merlin has not merged/imported it either. Don't really think you can add it unless being supported officially first (need certification I guess?)

    RT-AX89X

When the company was certified for cat6/6A by Nexan we was told the cat7/7A needed GG45 to be proper. Then cat7 with regular RJ45 started popping up... I use 2 Supra "cat7+" with "special" RJ45 but that was for the nice shielding, looks and sturdiness of the cables. Not that I really needed them...

[Beta] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.16 beta (and 384.13_5) are available

So far it works nice here. My setup still needs manual channel selection on the 5Ghz to get max speed Smart-Connect, hidden ssid, wpa3, tried several combinations of 20-160Mhz, AX mode on, OFDMA and multi user MIMO on, disabled universal beamforming. Personally I think Smart-Connect is the...

    AX88U Wi-fi Question/Issue

Great that I manged to help you find a way. Still waiting on a 160 capable device myself [emoji6] Have used high speed wifi hardware before but it was not without some stability issues. And with Linux and too specialized hardware it may be even worse sometimes. So I stick with the most stable I...

    AX88U Wi-fi Question/Issue

Well... As far as I know only if you have devices that can't connect then. But they can just as well use 2.4Ghz if they are not important in regards to speed. But it should sense and connect with top speed automatically ofcouse. If that is a Merlin issue or a Asus issue is the question...

    [384.16_Alpha Builds] Testing all variants

What configuration? I use Smart Connect and with automatic channel on 5Ghz I get less then the normal max speed between phone and router. But full speed if manually setting the channel. Kind of different to get 192 or 866 in send/receive speed. RT-AX88U - just one of the latest Merlin...

    AX88U Wi-fi Question/Issue

I guess you already have enabled 160 Mhz ;-) I have not tried this but if I had the gear I would try this. Try one at a time. Set control channels manually instead of auto. Try without AX/Wifi 6 mode. Use a separate SSID setup instead of Dual-band Smart Connect. Select ONLY 160 Mhz instead of...
